Welcome to the Forum Pat,

Depending on how the Active Home Pro software is configured, there is a difference in how timer/macro and PC commands are sent.

Please check under the menu item "Tools/Preferences/Macro Options" and ensure that the box "Issue ON in place of Bright 100%" is checked.  After checking this box, manually download to the interface using the menu "Tools/Download timers and Macros"

Let us know if this rectifies your problem,

Oh well, so much for the easy fix.

I'm assuming that you are programming you timer for 1-2 minutes in the future...Can you please post the contents of the activity monitor when your timer executes.  You can find the activity monitor under the menu item "tools/activity monitor".

Activity monitor should show you activity as a macro - my module example is at address A10

Transmit    Macro   A10
Transmit    Macro   A10 on

If you see this activity, we'll need to get a bit more in-depth...

Make sure that you have the "Run from interface" box checked on the timer.  You should then be able to disconnect the usb cable.

Pat,
The above log shows that your Timer/Macro is still sending "Bright 100%" commands.  Please double check that you have the "Issue On in Place of Bright 100%" checked as in my previous example.  After checking this box manually download to the interface using menu item "Tools/Download Timers and Macros".

When this is done properly your activity log should look like this -

0   31/08/2008 18:17:27   Macro   A1 (garage)
1   31/08/2008 18:17:27   Macro   A1 On(garage)
2   31/08/2008 18:18:27   Macro   A2 (Encastre)
3   31/08/2008 18:18:27   Macro   A2 On(Encastre)

The issue here is that you appear to have a "new design" XPDI3.  It has been reported that these devices will not activate using a "bright" command, thus the bright 100% command that is being issued has no effect.

If cannot get the above to work, try re-identifying the unit as a 2-Way Lamp Module (located in the Lamps category).  This will cause AHP to use a different communication mode with this unit.  If this works, I would recommend using this mode.  If it does not work, fall back to using the XPDI3.

The users guide is here if you need it. The updated guide covers the soft start version.

Brian,
Unfortunately, the manual doesn't cover using a controller to "brighten from an off condition".  This is exactly what AHP does if the appropriate box is not checked in the Macro preferences.

Charles Sullivan had previously reported that the new WS467 would not "brighten" from an off condition.  Since these devices are all based on the same IC's, I suspect the same applies to the XPDI3.

I don't personally have any of the new devices.  If you have a new XPDI3, would you mind confirming Charles' observation?  Could you also confirm that it will function with the LM14a lamp module interface?

Thanks,
Boiler

Pat,

The features in the "new units" (XPDI3 included) make using the 2-way lamp module the best option.  When installing additional units, try this interface first.  If you have problems, get back with us.

Boiler; The only Soft Start item I have is a pair of LM465s.
Yes it seems the brighten from off is not there. Though it is a nice four page sheet that has much better examples of different installations like three way and single.
I believe the new XPFM fixture module now will follow an All Lights On command on its house code.
Kind of makes things more of a chore in mixed old and new style modules. ???

Brian,

I'll agree that the X10Pro site has some very good information on the new units (as well as improved installation info).

Unfortunately, they do not include information on how to properly interface these new modules to the CM15a/AHP (the Pro site still handles the CM11a).  When the Pro site starts handling the Cm15a we may begin to have good documentation on how to properly interface these new modules.

Until then, It appears that it is up to "we" forum members.
