Title: x10 transceivers and EMF
Post by: LittleLarry on September 05, 2008, 08:33:51 PM
Just wondering if it is ok to sit next to an x10 transceiver antenna?

I mean. Do they only receive radio waves, or do they produce them as well?

I keep reading about emf health problems and was curious. I am still on the fence about how I feel towards emf. Sometimes, the more reading I do, the more it makes me extra paranoid, but after living with someone who is very, very allergic to things that most people aren't, it makes me wonder about just how dangerous emf radiation is, harmful radio waves, etc., however, for the meantime, I have decided against a new DECT 6.0 cordless phone, that is for certain.

It's not like our government or other groups would ever care for our safety, that pretty much is a given that they do not care.

Anyway, it would be my thought that these x10 transceivers would only be receiving data from the rf remotes but I may be wrong about that so I thought I would ask just in case.

X10 tranceivers receive RF and then transmit signals over the AC power line (they do not transmit RF).  Other X10 products do transmit RF, but their power level is limited to very low levels by the FCC.  You will be exposed to much greater levels of EMF if you use an electric blanket or a hair dryer.

I second what Alan V said. Very low power on the X10 devices that transmit.
