Title: Using the X10 Cameras in a vehicle?
Post by: gggplaya on September 26, 2008, 09:44:03 AM
Can i snip off the ac adapter and use my x10 directly to vehicle power of roughly 11-15volts DC?  I saw inside of the pan and tilt, they use a L7805C voltage regulator and inside of the B/W camera they use a 117 adjustable voltage regulator.  Those both will handle the vehicle power just fine but what's the purpose of the three wires coming from the power supply?  Why are there 3 wires and what is each one for?

--Thanks in advance.

Why are there 3 wires and what is each one for?

One wire is ground.
One wire is always powered on for the camera circuit (provides the instant on).
One wire is switched on & off and powers the RF transmitter circuit.

For cameras that are not instant on or not RF, they would just use the one that is switched to provide the power.
