Title: Use BVC for Help
Post by: hawk1 on February 21, 2009, 09:39:25 AM
Had an idea!  -:)   So I tried it and it works!

If you need help and your wife won't help   rofl then you can try this!

I needed some help with motion sensors and a palm remote to let know how far they could transmit. With no one to help me, I place a voice activated walkie talkie next to my speaker, kept the other one with me.

I set up a custom command in BVC to tell me when the motion sensor or palm remote fired. (B1 on, etc...)

I walked down the road with the palm remote and the motion sensor and listened to Christina. Every time they fired I heard through the walkie talkie's that my motion sensor fired.

I walked until I didn't here her anymore, and that was marked as my max distance for my motion sensors, and i didn't need another person.

Might not be a big thing, but thought i would share! Helped me out!   ;)

Thanks bitman!  I now have the same walkie talkie system modded with jacks plugged into my pc.  Works pretty good!

Thanks for pointing that out!   #:)

Yes, BVC is a terrific testing tool to shout out when an X10 signal is heard by the computer!

I used to use a similar trick with the walkie talkies to hear the tone from my satellite box while I was outside trying align the dish.  Sometimes even to hear the wife read the display on the TV (she wasn't as cooperative or patient as BVC though   rofl  ).
