Title: Audio differences between wired and wireless cameras
Post by: sixfeet2002 on April 08, 2009, 10:59:05 AM
Does anyone know if there is a difference between the wired or wireless camera's audio?

I have two cameras.

Wireless camera:
I can hear audio when it is connected to my tv.
I can hear audio when it connected to my PC through my capture card.

Wired Camera:
I can hear audio when it is connected to my tv.
I CANNOT hear audio when it is connected to my PC through my capture card.

I use the same exact connections on both.  Just unplug one and put in the other.

Anyone know what could be the cause of this?

Do the cameras transmit audio at different frequencies that a tv can use but the PC cannot?
Is there a difference in power output?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

What software ( Vanguard)  are you using omn your PC?

What Video Capture Device is plugged into your PC (VA11A / VA12A) ?

Which receiver are you using ( VR36A or VR42A) ?

Need a little more info........

If you are using the Audio IN connectors of your TV and the Audio IN connectors on your capture or sound card...No, baseband audio from the wireless camera receiver and audio from the wired cameras should be approximately the same level and certainly the same frequency (audio). If it works on the Line IN of the TV, it should work anywhere else.

The following is a "WAG" based on your problem description.

Under the remote possibility the wired camera has an audio cable wired wrong and your TV audio inputs are "floating", do you have something else like a table radio,, etc. that has audio Line IN that you could try? If you plug in the camera audio and get sound, take the video RCA connector and touch the shell of the connector (the ground fingers) to the shell of the audio connector. If the sound goes away, the audio connector is probably wired wrong

Like I said "its a WAG".
