Title: xps2 220v switch
Post by: Skyy on November 22, 2009, 07:15:30 PM
Replacing my water heater and code now requires a shutoff at the water heater. I currently have just an x10 220v outlet there now. Will the xps2 work in this app.?

If your hot water heater has a plug in cord, then that is considered a disconnect.  YOU unplug it and it is disconnected.  You should be good.

Without knowing more about the water heater, it's hard to say.  I can tell you that most water tanks around here are rated at 30 amps (mine draws 70  ;) ), which is 10 above the rating of the xps2.  I kinda doubt that the x10 switch would count as a disconnect anyway.  I know that I sure wouldn't trust it in this case.
