Title: Wanna trade?
Post by: twood on November 24, 2009, 10:06:18 PM
I'm brand new here today, but have been using X10 modules since the early '90s.  I'll have some questions about advanced macro codes this weekend, but for now I'm thinking maybe we can do some trading.  I have several new/unused X10 remotes, appliance modules, wall switches, motion detectors, etc.  I need some new-style lamp modules, a white motion sensor for indoor use, a Decora companion switch, and a wall outlet module.  I even have a couple of the old Active Home controllers if there is any demand for them.  I look forward to learning more about using macros from you guys.

I'll trade some new slow start lamp controllers for old instant on lamp controllers.
I hate the soft start.

PM me.

Let is be known that Twood is trustworthy.

We just did a leap of faith swap of 3 different styles of lamp controllers.
I got the ones he sent me, and he got the ones I sent him.

I was a perfect trade.

Need any more of the old lamp modules? I think I have a few of the old "Safety First" lamp modules in storage.

Wow, Safety First made (re-branded) them too!?

Sure. How much, how many?

Who was Safety First?  A Google search revealed nothing X10.

I have Radio Shack, and Magavox lamp modules some still in service since I first got X10 in the late 1980's.

Sorry Dan, I steered you wrong, It is "Safety 1st" but it doesn't matter you won't find out much.

They are one of the few times X10 actually changed the case design to accomodate OEM requests. The case is more rounded than the regular X10 Lamp module.

As far as I know Mike Furgesen has the best history of X10 rebranding.

Six of the old design total.

Four Safety 1st, one Radio Shark, and one X10.  I think they are unused but not in packaging anymore.

Will trade if you want them that bad. I sorta like the softstart stuff.

I have seen the rounded cases with a snap cover on the later Radio Shack modules and Black & Decker module. The B&D modules also had dials with Knobs for easy setting.  :)% B&D Lamp Modules also had a slightly modified PC Board with a safety fuse for the output.

If you ever look up the UL E63636 number assigned to X10. You will find IBM; B&D; R.S.; X10 and X10Pro part numbers listed.

I'll check Mike F's site later, but a Google search for Safety 1st yielded lots of hits but no X10 ones.

Well,  I'm not clear on your Google point.
These X10/Safety 1st modules are at least a decade old, but have not seen use. I bought a boat load when Safety 1st dropped their remote control / security product line.  If anyone is interested in the old design Lamp Modules (aka "instant ON") I have some that I am not using, and would trade.

Well, I'm back wanting to trade again.  I just bought eight new LM465s.  Since they were new, I never suspected they might be the old Instant-On type of lamp modules.  I opened the box, opened all eight blister packs, crushed and trashed the packaging.  Went in and installed four of the modules and, lo and behold, they are all instant-on.  All my other modules are soft-start, and I don't want to mix them.

Would anyone like to trade eight instant-on LM465s for eight soft starts?

twood,

Did these old modules come from X10 or a third party vendor?

Few weeks ago. In EBay a dealer was selling older instant On ones and they looked like real X10 models.
Now there are no more Appliance or Lamp Modules on the site.
