Title: Control via Internet

Has anybody found a way to control their security system via the Internet or some other remote way?

Logmein is one way to go (with a few module alterations)...............

How would you suggest I do this?  Logmein controls a pc, my security system is not connected to a pc.

Sorry......I thought you were referring to OnAlert (the plugin).  I don't know of any way to remotely control the DS7000 system.  By modifying some of the remotes it is possible to arm (or even disarm) the system through the internet.

Please treat me stupid like I am.  How would I go about modding a remote so that I could control the security system via internet?

It would require a universal module and keychain security remote.  Disassemble the keychain and find the two contacts for the Arm button and solder wire to the contacts.  Then attach the wire to the universal (set to House/Unit code desired) and set the universal to "momentary contact" and "relay only".  If you had Logmein or a similar program on your PC and AHP, you could Arm the PS561.  Obviously without a PC and AHP this is not possible.  Although you could trigger the House/Unit code above (with a normal remote) and arm the system, Goldberg wouldn't be impressed.

I was referring to the ol' Rube Goldberg assemblies, which used a rediculously complicated machine to complete a simple result.  Showing my age I guess.  Sorry........

These Goldberg devices often used rolling balls in tracks and boots swinging on strings to accomplish the simple task. This YouTube Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RouXygRcRC4) shows that the concept is still very much alive and current.
