Title: x10 powerhouse security system**Help**
Post by: MissyL on January 15, 2010, 11:02:33 AM
I got this system in June of 09...2 door sensors. 2 powerhorns 1 lamp module 3 motion sensors
set to mode 1.
Model DS7000.
I live in ohio..
In December i started to get false alarms...
Twice this week i had to rush home because of this.
Now i can take the bateries out of the motion sensors and arm the house and no problem.
So the problem has to be with the motion sensors...batteries good.
Have reset the system 6 times.
I wanted a system so i could get out of the cold weather for a month or so..but it doesn't look that way..
I have no one family here to come and reset the system if it goes off.
I have to depend on this system for my security and it's not providing it.

Any help is appricated..

Are you sure about the batteries? If the system has worked since June and suddenly starts false alarms I would replace ALL batteries first (including the back-up in the console). Don't rely on the system to warn you of low battery.

If you have done that, check the system during the day to see if the change in season and sun angle could be putting fast changing patterns of light /dark on any of the sensors. They look for movement of heat / infrared, and should be fairly immune to light change but I have a MS on front porch (not a Security type) that changing sun patterns through the tree leaves will set off under the right conditions.

Finally, call X10 Customer Service to see if they have any wisdom (don't laugh at that. Someone there has to know something, sometime). ::)

Sorry.

Personally, I'm beginning to wonder what is happening at X10, especially in China.
