Title: BlueWatch - iPhones & WiFi
Post by: aussie mate on January 17, 2010, 02:41:49 AM
After a couple of days of testing I have determined the following:

Bluewatch will work with iphone but there are some limitation.

1) for Bluetooth to work all the time you must remove the Auto keylock feature - this can be found in
"Setting - General - Autolock - select - never
(The reason for this is that the iPhone stops the BT signal when the phone is keylocked - I guess it is to save power).

2) You will also need to install a BT app that will keep the BT discovery working all the time - there are a number of these that are designed around BT Instant messaging. I have tried & found  "Tooth Me" and Bluetooth messager" the best.

3) These apps will need to be running on the iphone when you arrive home and while at home. I would suggest that you plug your iphone into its charger while at home.

WiFi pinging
This also can work in a similar manner, you need to remove the autokey lock and there is an app called "eWiFi" that will continue to scan and keep the iphone connect to the WiFi network (this providing the ip address to ping).

Good to here you found a way for the iphone to play! :)%
I'm sure others will benefit from your determination to get this working. #:)

Any device used with BlueWatch should be put on the charger when at home. ;)
As I continue to play with the BT ping option (it seems to have some limitations) this kills my head set battery when left pinging over night. ::)
I'm sure even network pinging would do a number on ones battery as well. ::)
