Title: Had to see it to believe it! (X10.com)
Post by: HA Dave on March 09, 2010, 06:09:16 PM
I just visited X10.com (http://www.x10.com/homepage.htm). Wow... never thought I'd see that. X10 looks... respectable.

Wow! Only one scantily clad hottie tottie.

Not bad.
And the rest of the site looks pretty pro.    for today.

Noooo!!!!!!!!!!

:)

I wonder if it is under new management and the new folks decided to clean up its image.  :)

Wait.  This could also mean that they could hire a staff of programmers to work on AHP.  The change would indeed be for the better.  Let's all hope that is where this is headed.

Did you guys see the 4 for 1 slimfire for 20 bucks. Then a couple of scrolls down they have it for 5 for 1 at 20 bucks!  What kind of marketing is that. Maybe it pays to look real hard at the whole page.

I have found that a good look can find the same item at two different prices.
Icon RF Remote was one example. $69.99 on main page but $49.99 on one of the deal pages.
Saw a one day deal that actually got you more LM456s than in the MagaPack deal.

Actually probably good marketing. ::)
You noticed that deal by digging and have thought

And maybe you'll look at other pages more closely.
It gets you to spend more time on the site and possibly buy more.

Many of us like Brian H have found good deals by searching the sites many pages.

I just ebay everything now...cheapest prices I can find, and usually free shipping

I buy a lot of X10 stuff so price is important to me. I have purchased off eBay (and other places.. on a few occasions). For the rare, scarce, or speciality items ether X10 doesn't ofter the item or it is much cheaper elsewhere. But for the normal X10 purchases I calculate the cost by price per item. Shopping X10.com and using the newletter deals I have generally kept my per item price around $5.00.

Of course... I keep thinking I have all the X10 I could ever use. Then I seem to need just a little more. This just amazes me as it isn't even like X10 introduces many new products.

I just went there, and saw lots of deals, but no hotties!  Just one female with a telephone operator's headset on.  About as prurient as a bus sitting at a bus stop with the engine running.

To each one's own I suppose.

Amazing !   :)%  >!  #:)

What the heck happened ?

Am I in the "Twilight Zone" & transported to a "New Dimension" ?

Whatever transpired caused creation of a much more professional home page.

Yeah ! Way to Go ! Hoorah !

Congratulations to whom ever is responsible for this change.

I wouldn't get too excited about the "NEW" X10 site. When I first looked at it I was glad to be able to finally check out the Daily Deals from my work computer again without the fear of someone thinking I was surfing for porn.

However, if you notice on the bottom of the "NEW" home page there is a link to the original home page where the Daily Deals are accessible and of course those pages are using the old format.

The "NEW" home page is more of a facade than anything else. It's almost like making 2 different lamp modules that do 2 different things, but giving them the same part number... hypothetically.

Anyways, that's my $0.02. I guess I won't be going back to checking out the Daily Deals while having my morning coffee at work... not yet anyways.

My, what an improvement.

I just looked at the new site. A 100% change from when I looked yesterday.
Almost thought I was on the incorrect site.

100% agreed   :D :D :D.  No "Hotties" anywhere.  Didn't near any "Twilight Zone" type music on any of the 4 major sections.

I hope that this change came from "listening" to the customers.  I have seen more than one thread with negative comments on the scantily clad women in the ads.

I don't really see the necessity to have a woman in a bikini to sell a universal remote.   ???

Just my 2c.

I do... in my Home Theater (http://www.davesdomainonline.com/ht/ht)

I don't think many people have a problem with someone wearing a bathing suit at pool side. After all keeping an eye on the pool area is one use for X10 cameras. That, like a baby monitor.. adds a level of safety and piece of mind. I can sorta understand the animations and a pretty model here and there. Most of X10 products aren't much more than little plastic boxes... and not much to showcase. And after all... models need to earn a living too.

I think for most of us.. the guide we use to judge whats exceptable in a Page is: "what looks like porn". If it isn't something I could look at on a lunch hour at work... then it isn't a Site I would share with family or friends. X10 went way overboard with the "pretty models" a while back. I actually stopped using the term X10 when the Site got... sleazy... and started referring to my "Home Automation".

I fully support X10s new look and attitude towards advertisement. I certainly hope it effects their bottomline in a positive way.
