Title: Help please 2 pin PAM 21 stays on
Post by: VORTREKER on March 16, 2010, 12:14:29 PM
I recently moved to a new house and tried to re-set up my simple CM15A to PAM21 module connection. The module stays "normally on" and when I turn it off thru the software it goes off for 3 seconds and turns itself back on. I have tried everything I know how to try.
Thanks for any advise

What type of load is it controlling?
Is it a CFL type bulb?
If it is try a test for Local Control problems. Take a small standard light bulb like a 4 watt night light. Then using maybe a power tat so you can use the original load and the test bulb on the PAM21. If it then works you have a Local Control problem.
Another way to test it if you have a CFL is to use a standard light bulb and see if it still goes back on.

Do you have any type of repeater coupler in the new home.
The PAM21 is a two way module and it could be triggering something.
Are you using the PAM21s address in any macros?

According to Smarthome, the PAM21 is a discontinued X10 Pro product.   AHP can address it as a LM14A two-way module (also no longer made), VORTREKER should try that.  If that does not produce any good results, the PAM21 itself may have failed.

Thanks folks,

Summary:
I have tried CFB, Incandescent, LED and solenoid--all give the same results as above.
Tried 3 different PAM 21 units and an old (15 y/o plus) Am486 module.
Erased all old Macros and timers.
Not sure about repeaters or couplers.

PAM21 worked correctly in old house, and you have not changed any macro programming?

Do you have macro in AHP that turns PAM21 on?

If so, is the PAM21 house code, the CM15A/AHP monitored house code?
In other words, is AHP forcing PAM21 back ON even after you turn OFF because it is set ON in AHP?

If you have another transceiver (TM751 or RR501) disconnect CM15A and use other tranceiver. Does PAM21 come back ON now?

PAM21 worked correctly in old house, (YES)and you have not changed any macro programming? (DELETED ALL MACROS AND TIMERS AND CLEARED INTERFACE)

Do you have macro in AHP that turns PAM21 on? (NO MACROS)

(NO OTHER TRANCIEVERS)
SI finally called tech. support and all the lady could do was repeat-"you need to buy a new module"--Wrong.--I have tried numerous modules)

Have you tried swamping the current sensor with a 4 watt night light in parallel to the load?

Thanks everyone--
Update:
So far it seems to be that I had the module plugged into a proximal ground fault interrupter outlet-I plugged the module into the next outlet that feeds off of the first one and it works.-- In other words both of the oulets are GFIC- the first one keeps the module on--the second outlet works fine.?????????
Now I am going to try and work my way back to the area where I need this module to operate from.
