Title: Need older style ws467's
Post by: peg-leg on July 15, 2010, 01:30:59 AM
Anyone know where I can get the older WS467's wall switches that don't have the soft start feature?  My 4 year old and wife are continually "double pressing" the switches which sets the switch to the lowest dim point.

I'd be willing to trade if anyone has them.

Thanks!

The problem is X10 makes the soft-start changes in modules and does not change the part number.   Of 6 WS467's I recently got, 2 were soft-start.  The easiest way to deal with them in AHP is is to use the LM14A (no longer made, but still in AHP) to handle them.

I for one dislike slow start anything. Lawn mowers, lights... you name it.

I find my fast start lamp controllers and wall switches on ebay. Firstly, make sure you are looking at used equipment, then peskily ask each seller if they are fast start or not if they don't know for sure, move on to another. Another option is the old resellers like Radio Shack which went under the moniker Plug 'n Power. Although I don't know if they resold wall switches.

They where introduced in 2007 so sometimes the Date Code Sticker may give a clue. Though when in 2007 X10 has not given us that data.

I have some old stock still in boxes, but I would have to power them up to check what version they are.  You can contact me by a private message if you want to pursue it.

I suspect every module now in any configuration (lamp, appliance, Wire-in, etc) are ALL soft-start.  AHP through 3.271 still has the LM14A and AM15A, (those 2 were unavailable when I got AHP in 2005)  but I suspect AHP issues in the 200 range (not programed yet) won't have them, since X10 hasn't made them yet.
