Title: How to Disable Sound on Console?
Post by: cubby on July 21, 2010, 04:40:00 PM
I would like to disable the sound on the console when the alarm sounds.  This way the burglar cannot easily find the console.  I will use powerhorns for an audible warning.  Any ideas?

If you are handy with a soldering iron, connect a switch to the alarm sounder wires in the top of the console. You can get small SPST switches at Radio Shark. Probably easiest to just cut one of the wires and solder the switch to the two wires, rather than trying to unsolder one of the wires from the sounder.

If you are not handy with a soldering iron, get one of the larger switches with screw terminals.

Or if you NEVER want the alarm to sound, just cut one of the wires and tape the two ends so they can not short to anything.

Obviously any cutting of wires inside the unit voids the warrenty and totally silences all sounds from the console alarm.
