Title: PA5800 and Verizon FiOS Dialing Issue
Post by: jd4x4 on August 30, 2010, 09:31:06 PM
I'm posting this for those that don't think of Verizon FiOS as VOIP (me, until I realized that it is!).

I have Verizon FiOS and my PA5800 would not dial properly. The dialed number would not ring, and I wasn't sure if it was even dialing at all. Listening in on an extension phone on the same line as the PA5800 as soon as the unit was triggered, revealed that tones were sent & the message played but the phone service responded with a recording of "the number cannot be called as dialed". I was starting to think that the PA5800 was defective (faulty tones??) but found the old post & link to the wiki suggestion of adding a DSL filter, and I happened to have one lying around.

Problem solved by adding the DSL filter!  Sounds the same when I listen in, but now it dials & responds to '0' as it should.

My old-school brain now realizes that the new millennium POTS is VOIP.  :o
