Title: Using Activehome to bring newlife to my old PowerHouse Alarm.
Post by: krazman on October 20, 2010, 05:29:37 AM
Hi All,
(newbie on list etc)

OK so I have had for a while an x-10 Powerhouse alarm Model ps561  which by pictures seems to be the "Main/Dialer"same as the DS7000 that is still be used.
With it I have a bunch of wireless door/window units and some motion detectors (no cameras yet.)

(for full disclosure - I am actually using this overseas in a 220V area. But since everything except the main unit is battry/wireless it works ok - and I use a converter for power - In my setup there is nothing else plugged in (except sometimes an extra horn that I also do via converter and the signal works)

So now my question is - I have started reading about ActiveHome/On Alert.
- Most basic question - will one or both of those let me set up automatic arming and disarming of alarm (i.e. On at 12:30am off at 6am)
- with the Activehome/onAlert do I actually need my main unit at all of can it track the alarm system - and send out the alarm signals.
- Any solution that has my plugging to AC current is best...

Ironically of course the X-10 site talks and talks but does not give actual information - and a call to the sells people was just a useless -

Thanks for any input

Allen

X10 items built for US/Canada will not work in a 220 Volt area unless you have a to reduce the voltage to 110 volts.

yes I know - thanks
since everything is wireless except for the dialer/main unit it is just one converter ...
(lets assume the electricity voltage is out of the equation - I just wrote about it to let you know that I would like to have as few things lugged in as I can)

Can Activehome home and/or onalert - let me automatically activate and unactivate  my alarm?

Thanks
