Post by: ErikP on October 30, 2010, 04:21:10 AM
The new installers have gone gold!  :o  or whatever its called for this distribution model.  The installers have been built and sent off to the server team to put online.  I don't have an ETA yet for when they will be done but the new versions will be available soon.

iWatchmobile PRO 294 Changes:
  New Dynamic Layout
Video now scales to fit display on most devices
Crops video to fit if smaller than camera feed resolution
Stretches video to fit if larger than camera feed resolution
UI element placement is now based on aspect ratio of display
  Streamlined Application Load
Web application should load significantly faster on all devices
Main application code significantly reduced in file size
Many UI elements now load on demand instead of on initial start up
  Improved Reflector Performance
Reflector server optimized for faster handling of web requests
  ActiveHome Pro Email Dialog fixes
Mobile application invite cell phone dialog now correctly uses default information if set
Fixed MyHouse email invite dialog layout
Fixed crash after inviting a cell phone
Fixed improper invite email formatting if direct email send fails
  Improved Blackberry Support
Blackberry video rendering mode added to reduce black screen lag
Reworked much of the web app layout to support Blackberry browser
AHP now correctly releases its connection to x10net service on error
Should not need to restart the x10net service anymore
  Other Bug Fixes
Playback UI controls hide when settings tab is open
Playback is no longer occasionally paused when the quick touch controls are selected

iWatchMobile 294 Changes:
  New Dynamic Layout
Video now scales to fit display on most devices

Stretches video to fit if larger than camera feed resolution

Hey Erik - Thanks for the update!

I downloaded all 294 modules, but only installed AHP -  after which all modules->About screens showed 294.  Did installing only AHP actually update all modules, or should I install each one?

EDIT - ...and Erik, this one works!  For the first time I can access my system via Blackberry!  Way cool!

All, iWatchMobile V3.285 has been working fine for me on my iPhone 4 with port forwarding for 3G but I really wanted Presets and the other Pro functions would be icing on the cake. Well I got greedy and decided to upgrade to Pro V3.294 from iPhoneMobile standard V3.285. Im regretting it now. I invited a Cell in iWatchMobile Pro and went to either link (3G or wifi ) and for both I get the error " Cannot Open Page... Safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server "

But the biggest disappointment is that iWatchMobile standard that previously worked great on my iPhone does not work any more. When I bring it up on my iPhone4 I get the well known 500 error. I did restart the PC. Also it seems that when Internet Explorer is started it takes 30+ seconds for it to come up and did not previous to this upgrade. Once it does comr up it seems to work OK. Not sure if this is related to the upgrade.

I was wondering if I needed to download upgrades for AHP and all its plugins I have SW32A, SW33A, SW34A SW39A & SW45A? But as stated in a previous post all the plugins now show the latest release V3.294 even though I did not download them and only downloaded SW47A, SW49A & SW46A and installed them in that order. So I guess all was automatically upgraded.

Well again I state I was greedy and should have been satisfied with what I had and how well it was working.

ANY SUGGESTIONS FROM YOU ALL WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

X10, thank you for this valuable forum......... Frank3d

FWIW - for the 1st time I was able to access iWatchmobile via my Blackberry this morning after loading 294.  Until then it was 400, 500, and unable to connect.  About an hour ago it all went to #$*& again.  The Blackberry gets 504 errors and the PC Web browser gets "Cannot connect"

Methinks 1w.x10 is having "issues"

I just posted a response at http://forums.x10.com/index.php?topic=21449.msg122602#msg122602 (http://forums.x10.com/index.php?topic=21449.msg122602#msg122602) that includes a setting to delay network startup.  by default, the 294 release starts listening to the network at boot.  There is a registry setting to go back to starting the network the first time AHP is launched.  Does running the delaynetworkstartup reg file, and then rebooting, help with Internet Explorer starting up?

Hmmm... I just checked -- iw.x10.com is working fine.  I have streams running to my PC, my iPhone, and my Droid.
1. Can your PC webbrowser connect in 'WiFi' mode?  Click on the WiFi link.  This is to make sure the iWatchMobile web server is running.
2. We don't generate a 504 error, ever.  So the 504 error is coming from somewhere else in the chain.  Maybe double-check the URL you are using on the Blackberry?

I'm actually getting a 500 error when trying to use the reflector service. The Wifi links are working fine.
This is on both the Blackberry and iTouch.

The server link is not working using any of 3 web browsers on my AHP PC either.

I have to say though, it's nice to connect through the browser and have a full window of video now.
Makes it much easier to monitor your cameras from any other computers you may use.  >!

Yes it did, #:) Thank You. IE now starts normally. Can you now please help with the other part of my post of connectivity from my iPhone to iWatchMobile.
In MyHouse Status I get:0 PM Start Connection, 1 Connectivity to My House Svc, 2 Authenticated by My House Svc, 3 Waiting for remote users, 4 Cannot Connect to My House Svc, 5 Verify MyHouse Plug-in Registration, 6 Disconnected from MyHouse Svc, 7 Trying to Reconnect, all within 1.5 minutes.

I understand that because of internal X10 server problems why the reflector service may not work at times but my wifi link is not working either with the error message " Cannot Open Page" ... Safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server " is the message I get on my iphone4. Any ideas since your itouch is similar in operation to my iphone using wifi connectivity? If the link is correct, there may be a chance that any firewall/anti-virus software running on your AHP computer may be blocking the connection.
You are able to bring up iWatchMobile from a web browser on the AHP system itself?
Title: Re: New iWatchmobile Release! Version 294

It looks like the 500 errors was a problem with the reflector server.  After stressing the server for a while some of the buffers got out of whack, so ActiveHome could connect for awhile if you restarted the x10net service but then it would die a few minutes later.  It should be fixed but now, are any of you still seeing this problem?  You may need to restart your x10net services to start working again, it looks like the bug was sending something down to the local x10net service which caused it to become unresponsive to any future communications from the reflector.

Right now the build number on the splash screen only reflects the version of the ActiveHome Pro core.  If there are more recent updates available for your plugins than the ones you installed you should update those as well to ensure everything is working with, and expecting the same versions.

We discussed this and will be changing the installers to just update everything.  The original reason for breaking everything up was to not choke up everyones internet with those "huge" 20MB that is the whole ActiveHome Suite.  With current internet bandwidth what it is, its probably best to go up to 20MB, and keep all the installed files clean and synced now.

I just closed AHP, killed the x10nets process, and restarted AHP.
Getting 500 errors trying to use the reflector.

Ok, this is kind of not cool to me.
I just got it to come up on the reflector with someone elses feed!!!

I should add, this was using the link generated in AHP for the reflector server.

Try resetting your security key from the invite cellphone dialog, then restarting the computer?  Its possible to see this behavior from a corrupted security key, if the reflector can't find your connected system to get a feed from.

Slight privacy issue isn't it?  :'
I normally don't use the reflector, I've had everything working fine with port forwarding.
I was just testing the connection as several people seem to be having some issues and randomly I was viewing someone elses video feed.
Title: Re: New iWatchmobile Release! Version 294

Ah, I didn't realize that's what you meant  ???  I thought you meant you had gotten a friend's key.

It is a security issue, but it should only be an issue if you haven't updated your key recently  ;).  There was a bug which should have been fixed last release, where the key was not properly getting its seed values, so it was possible for 2 users to generate identical keys.

It also explains the 500 error.  outside the bug above it shouldn't happen publicly, but in testing with early internal versions I found that if two systems connect to the reflector with the same Xuid, any connecting client will get a 500 error when attempting to access either system through the reflector.  in that case if your system disconnected form the reflector for whatever reason, and theirs stayed connected and you attempted to view your cameras you would see their feeds.

I'm running the current build 3.294 and have verified all .dlls are this version.
I rarely have used anything other than Wifi, but this was most definitely not my video feed.
I just thought I should mention it, as I wouldn't want a random individual to access my camera feed.
There may still be some issues it appears?

Yes, thanks for mentioning it.  Unlike some social networking companies, we take privacy seriously.  The security key you put in the URL to connect is the same key your copy of AHP uses to connect.  The reflector matches the two up and passes information back and forth.  The security key is based on your registration code plus a 64 bit cryptographically random number.  So the connection is private to just you.  Noone at X10 can monitor the video either, FYI.  And you can change your key at any time.

We *should* be at a completely stable AHP and reflector with the 294 release.   :'  It seems that there might be some reflector issues.  I'm working on it, and will report back here when I have a fix...

Just checking that the issues with OnAlert is still on the table.  B:(
I saw no changes yet and noted non in the intro of this topic.  :)+

Which brings me to the point of having to say thanks and a "Helpful" to ErikP for the topic of a new Update. :)%
Hope to see it a habit in letting us know of any future releases and updates. Getting tired of doing the daily Check for the next update and guessing on what it will fix or add.

I must say it has been good practice though in having to update everything in what seems a weekly ritual.
Title: BB Bold Screen controls missing
Post by: PajamaGuy on October 31, 2010, 07:20:14 AM
Yesterday morning, I loaded 294 and everything worked - then there were reflector problems and it didn't work for the rest of the day (504, 400, 500 errors)

This morning it works again - however the main options/control button is missing from the Blackberry screen.  The bottom-right button that opens up the options is NOT there on the BB, but it is there on the web browser??

This also happens to me at times.
When I first installed this latest build the slide-out menu button did not appear but I could still click the area and have the menu open.
This only happens on my Blackberry.

Hi PajamaGuy and J.B.,  I have a BlackBerry Bold 9700 and this is what I found.

If was viewing the page in "Column View", I would get a black screen with no controls but when I switched to "Page View" I could see the control icons.
I was wondering if this might work for either of you guys.

Other than a few intermittent issues, iWatchMobile Pro is actually working fairly well for me.
I normally only use the Blackberry when I'm not able to use my local Wifi.
I find using my iTouch to be much quicker and a better experience overall.

I am more or less just trying to pass along any info or issues and testing usage on the Blackberry.
My Blackberry isn't actually a Bold, but an 8530.
It appears some of the issues aren't model specific.
My Blackberry is set to page view when I see these things occur.
Thanks for the info though, it may prove helpful to others.  >!

Yes I can  #:) >!and works pretty nice I may add. >! Now if I can only get it to work that nice on my iPhone4.
In AHP do I still need to manually connect to MyHouse Service for 3G to my iPhone?
Buy the way I use Trend Micro for my AV and never had any problems using the iWatchMobile V 3.285 through my iPhone using port forwarding on 3G.

MyHouse shouldn't really have anything to do with iWatchMobile as far as I know.
Are you able to get it to work by manually typing out the URL on your iPhone?

From the iPhone No and still the responce is "500 error". Same with a PC elseware in the house wired (not wireless ) to my network router.
Using    http://my external ip:8777/iwatchpro     that use to work fine with iWatchMobile V3.285.

Will your internal IP for the system running AHP work?

Does your router act as a DHCP server?
This would change your internal IP each time the system is restarted and could cause any port forwarding to stop working if setup with a previous IP.

If using your external IP and your ISP issues you a dynamic IP, this will also cause the setup to stop working unless you are using the current IP or using a DynDNS service which resolves your current IP to a domain name.

There is NO TEXT AFTER THE 500 ERROR for either a PC on my home network or my iPhone4. This is with iPhone using my external ip in the link adr or using the AHP PC's ip in the Link adr from another PC on my home network.
Also when I tried using the link emailed to me for a cell invite to iWatch mobile, the web brouser that iPhone4 uses ( Safari ) shows "Cannot connect to the server". So I tried http://external ip:8777/iwatchpro in the iphones browser (safari) then I get the 500 error without any other text. Remember all worked well using the same adr except without "pro" on the end and iwatch V3.285 worked excellent before the pro upgrade.

I hope Im getting close to resolving this problem.

No the AHP PC's internal ip does not work either from another PC on my home network.
I check my router assigned DHCP often and it has not changed for two+ months. Same with my external ip. Remember I had everything working excellent on WiFi and 3G with port forwarding using the old iwatchmobile V3.285 until this Pro upgrade.

I think you have to be getting close to solving the problem.  You have iWatch PRO working on your AHP system, so everything is in order there.  You have your iPhone receiving a 500 error message from the system, so it seems like you're making a connection.  I don't know why you're not getting a more descriptive error.  My first guess at this point is that you have 'Use Wi-Fi Security' checked in your Invite Cell Phone dialog and you're using a URL without the security key.  If so, try unchecking that box and refreshing your iPhone's browser.

Also, try 'http://my external ip:8777/iwatch' instead of 'http://my external ip:8777/iwatchpro'.

The next thing I would check is making sure you can access the Invite Cell Phone dialog for both iWatchMobile and iWatchMobile PRO.  This is just to check that both are registered.

And last, and this is a long shot, check that the file version for c:\program files\common files\x10\common\x10net.dll.  It should be release 294.  Check that the c:\program files\common files\x10\common\WebApps folder is present and contains xphone.html and xphonepro.html.

AHP Dev
THANK YOU VERY MUCH #:) >!
Finally got iWatchPro working on my iPhone4 and it sure is cool. I love impressing all my tech buddies.
What worked was your suggestion changing only the ip address in the emailed URL I received when inviting my cell. I changed it to my external ip.  http:// ext ip :8777/iwatchpo?Xid=????????????????
I sure wish there had been some instructions telling me to do that in the beginning. I might have a little more hair left of what little I have left. It makes sense now that I see it.
And the best part is it not only works on WiFi now but also works great on 3G without changing the URL address at all I guess because I still have port forwarding enabled, not sure.
The 3G URL sent to me after a cell invite kept giving me an error “Cant Connect to Server” it was http://iw.x10.com/iwatchpro/Xid=????????????????  Thanks Again.  #:) >!

Is your PC on, awake, and running ActiveHome Pro when you try the 3G link?  Does restarting your x10net service or changing your security code have any effect on this?

You do not need to install the regular version of iWatchMobile to use iWatchMobilePRO.  The iWatchMobilePRO installer should install everything you need to use the plug in with ActiveHome PRO.

How exactly does it not load right?  Is the only problem that it takes a long time to load?  how is your phone connected to the internet?  3G?  802.11b?

The frame rate of the video is primarily determined by your network bandwidth between your mobile device and your ActiveHome PRO computer.  It will request the next frame of video as soon as the current frame is loaded and displayed.  There is some abort on timeout logic with an attempt to restore the video feed as well, which may be tripping up your feed if you are on an extremely slow connection.  Even this should back off the timeout limit until it is consistently loading frames, so should only affect it briefly.

lol i thot i was speaken as clear as possible... ok i am usen my phones mobile internet (not 3g) but it is a android smartphone that is usally fast,.. as stated above I tried both logging inthrew x10 servers (pro only) n when i noticed it was slow i tried the alternate port forwading (kinda knowledgable on port forwarding) ok so i now have the option to use both x10 servers and my own server... both seem very slow and can be as much as 1 minute off from real time but it seems that the regular version accessed threw port forwarding is more realibe efficent but i plan to upgrade to ninjas so i wanna be able to move them around eventually ie presets (only available threw pro) idk whats the problem but can u please optimize the performance for my pro version or anything??

If I am understanding correctly you are on a 2nd generation (2G) cellular data signal.  That is why everything is slow.  That generation signal doesn't have the bandwidth push frames as fast as you would like.

As far as optimizing performance, a lot of effort has already gone into that.  For the foreseeable future it is about as optimized as it is going to get.

If you are not afraid to get your hands dirty editing HTML, you can turn down the resolution of the camera images transmitted.  This will decrease image quality but increase frame rate.

To do this go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\X10\common\WebApps\ and open the XPhonePRO.html file in your favorite html editor.  Change line 11 videoScale to 2.0.  Now load iWatchMobile PRO on your phone again.  You should see a big difference in image quality since u just divided the number of pixels in a frame in half.  You can play around with different values until you are happy with the result.
Code: [Select]
var videoScale = 1.0;  // Set to 1 for full-resolution, or >1 to divide by scale (e.g., 2 is half resolution)

This will only affect the iWatchMobilePRO application.  There is a similar parameter at the top of XPhone.html which will affect the regular iWatchMobile application.  Neither of these values has any effect on the ActiveHome PRO system itself, only the images sent to the mobile applications are affected.  ActiveHome PRO's iWatchOut plugin always captures images at the same resolution as you configure in ActiveHome.

I do! Notepad! (Or if you really wanted to, you could go download Notepad++).

Any text editor should work, especially since you likely won't be doing any heavy lifting in the code :)

I personally use Visual Studio if I'm on one of the computers with a licence, or Notepad++ if I am not.

I have been using iwatchmobile pro since it was released.  I am able to view everything perfectly from a pc but when viewing from a cell phone it does not show the still pictures.  This original worked until the second to last release.  I also noticed that the +1 hour and -1 hour buttons are reversed.  Any plans on fixing this and any ideas on what I can look at to see why I can't see stills on cell?  Any advice would be appreciated.  Any files I can edit?  Thanks,

Are you using 294?
Newest release of AHP is 3.301 which updates all plug-ins to that!

I am using AHP 3.301, Iwatchout 3.296, & IwatchmobilePro 3.296.
I always upgrade to the latest as soon as it comes out.
I check the software download page daily! ;)
I have also kept the last 3 different versions just in case an upgrade does not work well.

OK this will be the 3rd post without a reply regarding the iwatchmobilepro and the still video review.  The rest of the software works well but I cannot view the stills unless I am on a PC.  I am using an iphone4 and a motorola droid but it will not show.
What can I check on to resolve this?  A reply would be appreciated!!! B:(

Sorry for the late reply -- CES got in the way and we're just now catching up.  What happens on your phone when you attempt to view stills?

On the phone it brings up the light blue screen that usually shows the other blue lines to click on but it is empty.
When viewed from the computer it works fine.  I also pointed out that the review screen has the wrong +hour and -hour.  They are backwards.  When you click on +hour it goes back an hour and vice versa.  The minute +- works correctly.  I would just like an idea of where to start.  As I posted before this worked great until a certain release then it went away.  I am using port forwarding not your reflector.  Any place to start would be great.  I have updated to the latest mobilepro version 3.303.  I am one version of AHP behind at 3.303 I saw a 3.304 this morning but have not updated yet.  Thanks,
BTW....what is CES?
