Title: WS14 with CFL???
Post by: cawgolf on November 14, 2010, 05:43:35 PM
I want to set up a 3-way switch to control fluorescent lights. I am using a WS13A as the master which I understand is fine for CFLs. But the companion switch is a ws14a. The instructions indicate that this should not be used with fluorescent lights. Is it ok to use the WS14A as a companion with the WS13A for fluorescent lights? If not, is there any way to set up a 3-way switch with CFLs??? Thanks in advance!

I would not think that would be a problem. It is nothing but a remote signal to the WS13A that is CFL rated.
On line WS13/14 manual shows it.

Ok, thanks. Yes, I saw the manual for the WS13A being used with the WS14A but it does not say that the WS14A is ok for CFLs. The instructions for the WS14A say (in bold type) "WARNING: Wall Dimmer Modules must not be used to control appliances or fluorescent lamps." I am not certain what this is referencing. However, I believe you are correct.

Wall dimmers would be the WS12A dimmer switch.

Install sheet is not too clear as it vaguely says no dimmers.

The WS14A only controls the master switch and does not have any load type limitations. The WS12A or WS13A masters are the ones that are load specific.
