Title: Advanced Functions
Post by: birdzeye on December 26, 2010, 06:40:36 PM
I'm trying to send a text message to my cellphone when one of my door/window sensors is triggered, but there's no info in the AHP Help.

There's something  in Macro "Advanced Functions" about sending an email but I don't know how to make it work.

Can anyone help?

You don't know how to send a e-mail or SMS they are the same!
You need to know your cell carriers address.
I posted in  PCCompaion what can it do for you?  (http://forums.x10.com/index.php?topic=17747.msg115065#msg115065)  a list of carriers and their addresses.

I tried using the email function by putting in my email address in the Advanced Functions but it doesn't work. Is there a little bit more to this that you're not telling me?

Hint: If I go to MyHouse there is something about email configuration.....HELLO?

birdzeye you need to have entered your email address info in AHP I believe in the Myhouse section then it should work!
You have to select which send meathod you wish it to use. Maybe you forgot to select one!
Of coarse you could always use PcCompanion As vantech suggests and get a little more options.
But try to get AHP to work for you anyways!

In MyHouse>Email configuration there is already the following info:

Your email name:   MyHouse Service
Your email address: AHPGateway@x10.com

Do I leave this info in there?

Nope not unless your email address is that!
Which I doubt.
You want your email name and address that you use with your email application.

OK I just triggered my alarm and the email works immediately, but the DS7000 console is not dialing out the phone number.

How did you trigger the alarm?
You have to physically trip the sensor (not from AHP) and it (the sensor) must be registered in the DS7000.

Yes I physically triggered the alarm and all sensors etc are registered with the console and AHP. I've done it before and it worked, it's just not working now, or it's taking way longer than usual for the thing to start dialing.
Is there a way to test it without that siren going off?

Not without cutting the wires to the speakers! :'(

Just one more question about the email.

When I get the email and look at the email's properties, it says it's coming from AHPGateway@x10.com. And in the "from" line it says MyHouseService.

I took all that info out of the MyHouse email configuration, and put my own personal email info, so shouldn't it be saying it's coming from me?

Does the email message sent by AHP get sent to AHPGateway first?

Well it is suppost to use the setting you select but I found in older versions it never used the same setting.
I found it usualy reverted to sending threw the gateway. ::) :'

I wish I could say for sure. I stopped using the email function at 3.228.
Maybe one newer then that!
This maybe one of those long outstanding bugs that keeps getting missed.

I have been trying for over 2 years to send an email.  Still can't do it.

I downloaded a trial version of PCCompanion and it won't load.

Application failed to initialize properly(0xc0000135)

Seems I am always one step short of sending an email via AHP.

How is the "connect" button activated when AHP tries to send message.

I have entered  (my number) XXXXXXXXXX@txt.att.net in my email config and everything else I can think of.

BTW   XP  SP3  AHP 3.305

Yall please excuse me for holding a conversation with myself.

I have 3.305 loaded AHP suite of main app and 4 plugins.  Windows XP SP3.

Still have the same problem of Advanced Functions not working after a restart.

Don't EVEN try to put two of them in one macro.  The thing goes bonkers.

I used PCCompanion(finally got it to run) to create a batchfile; which I had to redo because it created a corrupt batchfile.  Upon fresh recreation of macro the batchfile/sound will work.

Can they(X10) find a programmer that will make this work??????

PCCompanion:  like I stated above, it creates corrupted batchfiles.
I can't get Triggered Sound events to work.
It doesn't load Mary, mike, or any voice but Sam.

For the email in AHP you need to set your email account info (where the email is being sent from)  the email address for a SMS  I don't think will work as that is the receive address.
Then in the address book add the SMS address of your phone. and set it as the defalt.
As for the PCC voice issue I'll adress it in the forum for PCC once I test load on a new XP machine with a fresh setup.

How would you switch back and forth if you wanted a text message one time and a image the next email if I set the default on only one setting?
The email is being sent from my modem to AHP portal so I had my address in the required spot.  The address was myphone#@messaging.sprintpcs.net.
I just don't understand all this.  I guess I have to get a regular email address, send it to there, forward it to AHP, the they'll(maybe) send it to my cell phone
