Title: AHP needs to close after installing plug-ins
Post by: evo6472 on January 16, 2011, 01:31:51 PM

Problem solved by changing install order.

Hello
I am having trouble adding plug-ins after installing AHP.
I am installing the software on a windows 7 64bt with firewall and antivirus off. After installing AHP it  works controlling lamp modules. I then try and add iWatchout and iWatchout Pro and it says it need to close as soon as I try and open AHP. I read and heard from x10 tech support to try and over install or reinstall AHP after installing plug-ins and that did not help. I downloaded latest versions of software from http://www.x10.com/support/support_soft1.htm .
My goal is to view and control lights and Vanguard camera from my htc evo.
Thanks for any help.

I said I tried that above to no avail. Or do you mean install plugins first then AHP.

What version of AHP do you have running the latest download doesn't always give you the correct version as I've and others have discovered.
Also stop the x10.nets then remove the files from program files(x86)/common files/x10/common
once that is done reinstall AHP
Are the two plug-ins you listed the only ones you have?
I think the moblie apps require other plug-ins as well to work correctly(I may be wrong)
if you have others install them all then reinstall AHP.

I can not open AHP to see what version it actually is. I will uninstall everything and then check the real version after AHP is working.
1. When do I stop x10.nets? I have read that also but was never clear on when to stop it. Before or after a certian step.
2. What programs do I remove from program files(x86)/common files/x10/common?

stop the X10nets first
then remove all files from
program files(x86)/common files/x10/common
a reinstall of AHP will put them back.
But if you have any other plug-ins install them first

If the suggestions help please report bak so others know.
If you still get the error report it in the thread New & Old(outstanding) AHP Bugs (http://forums.x10.com/index.php?topic=22373.msg127475#msg127475)

I got rid of every x10 file on my computer. Did what you said and same thing. AHP needs to close. One thing though after I installed iWatchout, AHP showed opened up and I know I cleared program files(x86)/common files/x10/common and anything else x10 before I started.
Mayby that is included in the iWatchout download I don't know. Anyway I got to the regestration box and they all registered fine. When I closed the registration box that is when the "AHP needs to close" comes up and then it will not open anymore.

Ok, the files I had you remove were common files it wouldn't remove the plug-ins
go into Program files(x86)/ActiveHome Pro find the file ahp_plugin.xml rename it to ahp_plugin2.xml then see if AHP will load.
it should show plugins as not registered

It did not work and I have to admit I am lost but here is what i did:

Cleared everything x10 from computer in program files, program files x86, program data. Rebooted.

Installed iWatchmobile pro and when finished AHP loaded up and was on my screen. I didnt think that should be there yet. Closed it anyway.

Installed iWatchout...again AHP came up when done installing iWatchout. Closed it.

Changed ahp_plugin to ahp_plugin2.

Reinstalled AHP and when done and the registeration page came up there was no plug-ins listed. Only AHP.

Ok does AHP loads without error?
The plug-in shouldn't come up as being installed as AHP gets that info from the xml file I had you rename.
if your still getting an error it may not be a plug-in issue but a AHP issue.

Yes AHP loads with no errors but where I am lost is now AHP is up and running, but I have no plug-ins. If I load the plug-ins now I am afraid AHP will crash again. If I need to install the plug-ins first then this seems to just be a never ending loop.
What is the next step to get the plug-ins loaded and working?

what is the full name of the plug-ins you have?
There are 3 iwatch plug-ins 2 are just mobile apps.
you may have to call support and find out if you need another plug-in for the mobile apps to work like activephone or myhouse. If so these would need to be installed before the ones you have.

Make sure you are installing the LATEST versions of the plugins from here:

http://www.x10.com/support/support_soft1.htm

The latest version of AHP is 3.304, while the plugins are all at 3.303. (The only difference between 3.303 and 3.304 was the added "parameters" filed for macros that run a Windows command).

that shouldn't be a problem as AHP updates the plug-ins.
Since I don't have any of the mobile apps I'm thinking maybe something else (another plug-in) is needed in order for them to work. ::) :'

Yes that is where I am downloading from. I am starting fresh now. No x10 software is installed on my computer.
Do I install AHP first then plug-ins (In the right order)? Or the plug-ins first THEN AHP?

Tuicemen
You asked what plug-ins I had and I should have posted them before my last response, sorry.
ActiveHome Professional
AHP Plugin - Security
AHP Plugin - ANT - Network
AHP Plugin - AVX - Video
ActiveHome Pro Smart Macro
iWatch Mobile PRO

I will do these in order when I hear whether its AHP then plug-ins or plug-ins then AHP.

And Thank You very much again for your Patience.

It SHOULD be AHP first, then the plugins.
However, some users have reported issues with installing in that order, and an additional AHP install at the end has seemed to fix it.
I would recommend installing AHP first, then test to make sure it opens.
Next try installing one plugin, and testing to see if AHP loads okay afterward.
continue one at a time, and see if you can determine where the problem might be.

At the same time, you might want to create a brand-new AHX file, and leave it blank for starters. Do this after installing just AHP, before installing any plugins.
Wait until ALL of the plugins work, before trying to load your original AHX file. The problem might be in your AHX file, not in AHP itself.

As Noam stated try installing one plug-in at a time.
but install them in this order
AHP
Smartmacros
Iwatchout (video AVX)
MyHouse (network
OnAlert (security plug-in)
Iwatch mobile pro(phone app)
After installing each register it then restart AHP to make sure there are no errors then go on to the next one.
I watchout mobile was the last plug-in created that you have so it needs to be installed last.
I think it relies on the Myhouse as well as Iwatchout maybe even the security plug-in.

Ok I started fresh and in this order:
AHP installed, registered and running. I then closed AHP.
Smartmacros installed, registered and running. I then closed AHP.
Iwatchout installed, registered and when it said it was registered I closed the register box and thats when the box came up saying AHP has stopped working.
I did the whole process 2 times. Uninstalling everything and then going through the steps and when I get to this same point it gives me the error.

After the install order mentioned above, run the AHP install again.
The installers haven't been resynchronized for the rapid release of 3.304.

Since your getting the error after  the Iwatchout installation install it second last.
Also download a fresh installer for it as It may have become corupt in your initial download. ???
That is if your downloading the installer then installing from your PC.
download it from here: http://software.x10.com/pub/applications/activehomepro/ahp_video_303.exe

Well after all this trouble I finally got it to work. I dont know why it worked but it did. This is what I did but with one change. This is what Tuicemen and Noam said to try:
AHP
Smartmacros
Iwatchout (video AVX)
MyHouse (network
OnAlert (security plug-in)
Iwatch mobile pro(phone app)

This is what I tried and it worked.
AHP
Smartmacros
MyHouse (network
OnAlert (security plug-in)
Iwatch mobile pro(phone app)
Iwatchout (video AVX)

I don't know why but I looking at live video from my Vanguard camera on my HTC EVO. Video frame rate isn't great but it works. Mayby I can tweak something else besides the frame rate on the camera control in AHP.
Now I need to learn how to control the lights from my phone. I sent the link from AHP to my phone but its just a blank screen. I will do some more reading in the forum.
Thanks again for the help Tuicemen and everyone else that chimed in.
