Title: Arming system sets off power horn

Arming the new SC12A  security console sets off my PowerHorn siren PH508..... it beeps 4x then goes silent... Is that supposed to be acknowledging the system with siren armed?

Any ideas?

Well you are the second user to report this. So far.
Normally arming an X10 Security Console should not sound a Powerhorn, as it triggers on a cycle of On Off or All Lights On All Units Off commands. The PS561 in the older DS7000 Kit. Sends the All Lights On all Units Off Command so you could set the Powerhorn to an unused unit code and everybody was happy.

The new SC1200A sends the Light Code Addresses then an On. Light Code Addresses Off. So you have to keep the Powerhorns on one of the two Light Code Addresses. For them to work.

So is it normal. My opinion No. Arming your system should not wake up anybody sleeping. Is it how the SC1200A and PH508 {depending on the age of the pH508} going to work. Very possible.

My tests with different date code PH508s show different results.

Can you provide the date Code on yours? Should be a small white sticker on the back cover. With two numbers then a letter and two more numbers.

2007, Week 52.
I will add it in my PH508 Date Code List.

Do you mean from X10? You're a newbie aren't you.

They might fix it by changing firmware in the Power Horn, but they won't tell anyone. I suspect the only help anyone will see is the date code history Brian H is logging. X10 should really be paying him a salary.

My date code 02H35 and 05B09 PH508s both of the old design PC Board work 100% No beeps on an arm and sound properly on an alarm.
My date code 10L52 PH508 and X10Pro PSH01 10F24. New design PC Board. No beeps on arm. Sounds for four hi lo tones. Stops ten seconds. Then repeats the drill.

I don't have any of the late 2007 ones you have or the 2008-2009 ones vlong has. You are both reporting it sounds on an arm home or away.

SH10As Small Powerhorns act differently but I don't have my data handy.
