 hi im looking for a setup where i can use a spare dvr  to capture video on?

any suggestion on camera or any software i could use to do this?    :)

X10 has a special on now ,for $70 you get everything you need (refurbished equipment). Vanguard will save security video to hard disk and can be triggered by motion detection. The software makes the DVR redundant and it can be accessed anywhere through the internet. It is a good(and cheap) package for the beginner to home security.
