Title: MS10A issues
Post by: ldykler on June 21, 2011, 05:32:07 PM
Still having trouble with the motion detector MS10A. Was too sensitive, and picked up false alarms as well as the dogs. Covered with wax paper as suggested in some forums, now it doesn't pick anything up, even when i walk in front. Any ideas would be appreciated. Becoming frustrated...

Wax paper? That's a new one. Seems like it would diffuse too much.

1. Re aim the MS10 to a higher angle to eliminate the dog, and/or
2. Use black tape to create masks on the front lense.

I would expect the MS10A to detect a dog.  You may not be able to use the motion detectors if the dog is free in the house with the system armed.  Another thought, is there direct sunlight that comes through a window in the room with the motion detector?  The MS10A may intepret the sun moving during the day, or being blocked by clouds as movement.

If memory serves me. Your MS10As are outside in protected areas?
You do know that they are ignored when the system is Armed Home.

Here's another one try the 2 step mode and the tape just put about a 4Th of an inch across the bottom and place it in the 2 step mode.

Also be sure to orientate it so that it points away from the windows.
