Title: alarm remote extenders
Post by: tvro on August 16, 2011, 12:22:06 PM
My father in-law has a older x10 security system which has been working for 20 plus years he started having problems with door sensor in garage has to reset every other day thought was console so bought a new system but did not fix it seems to be his extender but they do not seem to sell them anymore or at least i can not find them this was great when it worked he said he could turn it off and on half a block away now he has to be withing 15 feet of console which is where problem is as his garage is about 25 feet from house and he is unable to arm system from garage or disarm also the motion sensor and door sensor now so error until he resets them is there any way of getting one of these extenders as they seem to work great for the x10 security system. The extender is just a box with a led on front and antenna that plugs in it just boosts and repeats and x10 code it sees works great or did work great can a person get a new on or this one fixed.

I personally wouldn't buy a used one.

They where also reported to make problems for some users.
I believe it was false signals or firestorms of added signals.

Absolutely correct I got a bunch of added signals! That's probably why they discontinued it.
