Title: x10 lamp control and quartz radiant heater.

Im wondering if I could use a lamp module as a control for a radiant heater.

The heater is self is a glorified halogen lamp.  There is no thermostat built in.  It's a filament in a glass tube.  It shines a nice orangey glow.

It's 300W total. 

Is it possible to have this lamp under X10 control?

It is strictly resistive with no fans or blowers in it?

If it is strictly resistive. Like a 300 watt light bulb.
I would think a LM465 would work with it.
Since you would be using the maximum rating of the module. I would keep it where air could circulate around it.

If it has a fan or blower in it. I would say do not use a lamp module on it.

The best module to use is an Appliance Module.   It will control the heater and any lights as well.

I have a Marvin Quartz heater that I've used with an X10 appliance module for several years (maybe 5 years).  I'm no electrician, but I sure would feel safer using an appliance module.

Two good points.
Though a lamp Module may work OK. I agree the best choice is an Appliance Module.

Do you want to control the heater on and off by X10 automatically?
