Title: ATTENTION X10 SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS - Security sensor & SDK
Post by: junebuzz on January 05, 2012, 09:44:51 PM
I know your busy working on the AirPad Tablets but I was hoping you could answer my question.  I've been trying for a year to get my SC1200 alarm system working consistently.  My main console is constantly losing sensors so I have to go open and close doors before I can set the alarm.  I've moved the main console many times to try and fix the problem but nothing worked.  I've decided that the only way around this is to use the SDK to write my own alarm system program and monitor the sensors myself.  But after I started testing my program I found that the sdk doesn't see the activity of the security sensors.  I've tried contacting customer support to get some answers about the SDK but they don't know anything about it.  When I asked to get contact information for someone who could answer I was only told to contact the software developers via the forum, they "read and post on the forums sometimes".  So my question to the X10 developers is: Will I ever be able to view the security sensors activity with the sdk or should I cut my loses, forget the SDK and get a more reliable system from someone else?

I would take the "read and post on the forums sometimes" as optimistic at best.

As volunteers here. X10 rarely participates actively in the conversations.

Did you ever post any questions on your SC1200 here? Some of what you are finding has been reported before and some fixes where found.

I assumed it was a long shot but I thought I'd try it before I gave up.

I tried some of the suggestions from the board and dealt with customer service and it's still not reliable.

I had asked this question many times to developers.
The responce was NO.
The reason it was security.
AHP with the OnAlert plug-in does this.
With those running and some tinkering in AHP with dummy modules you could create something with the SDK to utilize that.

Thanks Tuicemen!

That is an excellent way around my problem, I never thought to use it that way!  I can now see my security sensors in my program.
