I bought my Airpad specifically because it supported Adobe Flash 10.2 if I remember. However some weeks ago in place of video I started to have a frame appear in the page with a downward pointing Green arrow in the center. Upon clicking the arrow the browser was closed.
On spending time to figure out the problem, I found that the Flashplayer had been updated to 11.1. Further research showed that the Airpad was not on Adobe's list of certified devices. That led me to think that perhaps the OS version Gingerbread was maybe the problem. Has anyone else found this issue? If so what can be done to fix it?
-
We are aware that there is a problem with Flash and ICS. We expect a updated version of ICS by early next week. Once it is tested, we intend to make it available to everybody.

Do you have Gingerbread or Ice Cream Sandwich? I am not aware of any problems with Flash on Gingerbread. Regardless, you will be able to upgrade to ICS soon, which should resolve the problem.
-
I do have gingerbread, however is ice cream an optional update?
What does ICS stand for please?
Look forward to the update which I presume will support Flash player 11.1?
Thanks very much for your responses,
Jomentor

ICS stands for Ice Cream Sandwich (Android version 4). As long as you have an AirPad 7p (the 7" tablet that has a white back cover) you will be able to upgrade at no cost. I am not sure which flash player will be supported.

X10 Repair Depot ,
Any idea when users of the original AirPads will be able to Update to ICS?
Will it come out at the same time?
I suspect we'll have to pay for that update. ::) :'

Why would you need to upgrade to ICS? Its already there.

I thought you said that you had Gingerbread (Android version 3.x)? Either way, the update will fix your flash problem.

Tuicemen,
Rockchip and the motherboard's manufacturer both need to do a lot of work to get ICS to work on that unit. As of now, that has not been done and I do not know their schedule to get it done. When ICS is available, we will supply it at no cost.
-
I did say I had a Gingerbread, however my point is why would a 7P owner need to upgrade to ICS when it already has ICS.
Now, what I would like to clarify is the fix, supposedly coming next week for original Airpad owners, going to allow us to use Adobe Flashplayer again as it was sold to us 6 months ago?
Thanks

Not all Airpad 7Ps came with ICS.
Only the ones after Christmas.
Prior they came with GB

The update is only for the AirPad 7p. There is no estimate of when an update will be available for the original AirPad. I am not aware of any flash problem with the original AirPad.
-
Thanks for clarifying the 7P versions. Rather disapointed to hear that so many needed refurbishing so soon.
Moving back to the original comment I made concerning my Flashplayer no longer worked after the auto upgrade to 11 took place. That was why I posted originally and that is why I am expecting a response to that specific issue. Should I save all my acquired data and restore to factory settings and then check out the flashplayer?
Please advise my best course of action to pin down the problem.
Thanks

To X10 Repair Depot - great to hear that X10 will have an update to Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) - am eagerly awaiting - is there anything you can share? At a minimum, will this be an upgrade to Android 4.0.3, and will it include Android Market??

Yes.

I don't know the actual version, but I would assume that it will be the latest. I will follow up as soon as I get a copy to test.
Unfortunately, it will not have Android Market.
-
Well, I restarted as suggested and guess what, Flashplayer 10.2 did not appear. So much for restoring to Factory Status. Flashplayer 11 does NOT work. Please advise where I can download Flashplayer 10.2 from X10. ???
Observation for Airpad users, I recommend not allowing auto updates unless you have proof that will not clobber your satisfaction with the system.

Thanks so much. I guess I should be more thorough in selecting the correct Forum.
Anyway, its working fine, however the Icon in the appd area for flashplayer setting is no longer there. I guess that functionality was set up for 11?

I have been testing it for the last few days and it looks good. Flash is working. A few changes will need to made before it is released, but I fully expect that we will have it available early next week.
To answer an earlier question, the version is 4.0.3

Can anyone confirm that this update to ICS fixes the compatibility issues with the 7P and Flash 11? I currently have my 7P updated to ICS via the manufacturer's release, but still have issues with Netflix and Flash. I would prefer to know 100% that X10's build will at least fix Flash, as I am to understand that the Netflix "no video" issue is due to the Netflix app itself.
-
I know that you are looking for an independent confirmation, but I have done a lot of testing and Flash is working.
I can confirm for sure that Netflix is not working with this release, and is due to a problem with the Netflix app.

My husband and I both purchased an airpad 7p and for almost 2 months we have not been able to get flash to work. So I did the new upgrades on each of our tablets. One I did gingerbread and the other i did the ics upgrade. Finally we have been able to get flash but it is not working properly on either operating system. When watching videos from the browser the videos constantly hesitate or load every two seconds which makes it impossible to watch anything. When I first did the upgrades the flash video would play all the way through but the sound and video were out of sync. I tried downloading faster browser such as opera mini and dolphin mni and hd and both tablets are still doing the same thing. The Wifi connection is excellent so thats not the problem either. I was relieved to finally have access to flash because that is why we purchased these tablets but now we have another issue. What can I do to troubleshoot and fix the flash problems?
-
Erica,
The problem that you are reporting is not normal and since you have two units that are doing the same thing, I think perhaps you may have another issue. I would suspect either an app is causing this or your internet connection does not have sufficient bandwidth.
Since I know that Gingerbread is very stable, try this on that unit:
Reset everything to the initial factory settings by going into settings and select "privacy" and "factory data reset". Using the stock browser, try to play a flash video. If it is better, then the problem was caused by an app.
If that still does not work, bring the tablet anywhere that has free Wifi, such as a local library, etc. If it is now working, then you have a problem with your router or insufficient internet bandwidth.
If it is still not working, please send me a link to a video that you are trouble with and I will test it here.

I suspect that something when wrong when you installed the alternate browsers. I suggest again to reset the unit by doing this:
Reset everything to the initial factory settings by going into settings and select "privacy" and "factory data reset". Using the stock browser, try to play a flash video. If it is better, then the problem was caused by an app.
If it is still not working, then try to use the unit again at an alternate location.
Once you do this test, you can reinstall the browser of your choice.
The websites that you listed should work fine.

So has this flash problem with the 7p and ICS been fixed yet, or is it better to get the 7p with Gingerbread installed on it? They say the next version of ICS will fix the problem but I've heard this type of statement before, can you say Windows 95 Windows 98 Windows XP Windows ME Windows Vista and Windows 7? Each new version said it will fix the last versions problems and that the last version was buggy and of poor quality but not with this new version which once the next version comes out will then be junk and need to be upgraded.
Why not just get it right the first time?
