When will the ics firmware be released? The firmware that comes with it is useless and the one from the manufacture is very buggy and has a lot of Chinese only support.
-
I am passing this along from X10's Tech Support:
The ICS update for the XL is being worked on now, but the latest copy that I received was far from usable. I will try to get an ETA next week.
-
Does anyone know where to get the firmware that came with the XL? I want to roll back due to the buggy nature of the 4.0 release. I have found on this forum the X firmware, but can't find the XL version.
-
I will post the original firmware for the XL on Monday.
-
Hey Thanks!
-
Thank you.

Here's the firmware for the XL:

Thank you for keeping us updated. That is very much appreciated.
Can you tell us if there will finally be support for an external bluetooth dongle like the AirPad X has?

I am not sure about Bluetooth support.

I will be a beta tester if needed

The week is over, any news on ICS ?

The week is over, any news on ICS ?
I asked the factory that question on Friday, and it still isn't ready. They expect to have it done this week. I will send an update when I have it.
-
well another week is at it's end and still no ICS.
B:(
-
I see ployer has a new download for the CM008 hope it is a working version of ICS...
CM008-4-0331.rar
hopefully the X10 guys will give us some word about it today.
I have read alot of the allwinner based tablets are having issues with multitouch in ICS, looks like it could be a kernel issue but i am sure lots of people have been working on it.

I see the download file but it is password protected.
Do you have a link to an unprotected file or know the password?

This one is a keeper. Multitouch is working again, appears to be stable.
The buttons are still not assigned correctly but I have fixed the keylayout files if you need them.
-
keylayout files would be most helpfull.
can u give a quick rundown of whats in this build...ie google play or is it atleast rooted like present rom ?
-
Google Play works fine.
The browser is working much better than in 4.0.1.
Netflix is working.
It is rooted but you need the superuser app and to let it update the su binary.
Change these files in /system/usr/keylayout to get the buttons working.
axp20-supplyer.kl
key 116 POWER WAKE
ft5x_ts.kl
key 139 SEARCH
key 102 BACK WAKE_DROPPED
key 158 HOME WAKE
key 217 MENU WAKE_DROPPED
sun4i-keyboard.kl
key 102 VOLUME_UP
key 115 VOLUME_DOWN
key 139 VOLUME_DOWN
key 217 VOLUME_UP
Remove any other lines from those 3 files.
Between this update and fixing those buttons my XL is finally working the way I want it too.
-
Thanks for the very useful info!! ICS is pretty sweet will take a little getting use to but much faster and seems to also give more info. :)% :)%
-
4.0.3 rocks....
did the update on the road this weekend and am totally enjoying the update.

On Ployer's website it says it is a custom build. It works great; and since it has Google Play I do not believe that it is the build they are doing for X10. Whoever it is for it works great so far.
I did not have any problems with the control buttons that I have tried so far but time will tell.

For those of us who are still new to android - and Airpads - will the instructions for updating the 7p work (with the obvious change)?

The instructions for updating the XL are exactly the same as the 7p, you will just be using a different image file. The non-X10 image that was posted works OK, but it is not perfect. It still needs some additional work.
-
when is X10 going to jump in and bless this ICS version ?
-
I see a lot of "banter" about this new ICS version with link posted above?
Is this version have the blessing of x10? Or will you do a seperate posting when the "official release" of ICS for XL is posted?
I don't want to flash my system for a "beta" version.
Thanks
Jim

On a related note - what are folks using to backup their AirPads before upgrading?
Be well,

-
when is X10 going to jump in and bless this ICS version ?
When it is ready, and for now, the ICS version that was discussed earlier is not fully ready.
Once I have software that is good, I will post on the forum.
-
if the factory is still working on it can u ask them to add bluetooth usb to the kernel.
-
OMG that would be sooo nice if you could get inthere bluetooth usb support.....
I would love to have good audio come out of that to the stereo....
-
Also it would be great to have support for a GPS Dongle via the USB Port. :)%

There is a new upload file: MOMO15_ Android 4.0 firmware 20120406 on the download page of the Ployer website.
Unfortunately, the link is password protected.
Have not figured out if there is a direct URL yet.
Everyone else please feel free to try.
-
http://en.ployer.cn/uploadfile/201204/CM008-4-0406.rar I haven't tried it yet.
You can try here too http://www.ployer.cn/prshow.asp?id=118&p=zc good luck with that one.
Ok CM008-4-0406.rar and MOMO15 android 4.03_20120406.rar are the same images but the first one comes with the update tool.
-
Forget the 0406 image.....wait for the x10 release or install the 0331 image if u want ICS right now
-
I uploaded the newest ics img from ployer to a sharing site so hopefully the download will be faster if anyone chooses to download it. The only thing is that it appears to be rooted but you can change anything...like the key assignments. Hopefully someone will find a way around that and post the directions ;D So far I haven't had any problems and it runs much faster than the previous release. Have fun.

Been using the 4.0.3 image for about a week now. No major bugs in it but does have a few. Pretty much just browser issues though. Also have my usb hub, keyboard, and mouse connected to my tablet to use it like a laptop. Works very well. Keys still aren't assigned correctly, but that was easily corrected.

25 days since last comment :' from X10 Repair Depot regarding XL ICS. Any update? >*< >*< >*<
-
No update on the X10 ics image. The 4.0.3 image i'm using is still stable. For now i's a good aternative.
-
Ok if i use the 4.0.3 image you are using...what do i have to do after install for my stuff to work? Step by step please if you dont mind.

The 4.0.3 image is the most recent one that I have available. The step by step instructions are identical to how you would install the X10 OS (instructions are listed on the top thread of this forum). Do keep in mind that this release is not perfect, and there are issues with it.
-
The repair depot is correct, there are some issues , but few. Multitouch is sketchy and as long as you don't use the factory browser your all good. Been using this image for a while now and still no major issues. I can post the corrected key assignment files if anyone needs them. For now "I" think this is a good alternative to the factory image. Btw, thanks to all who helped with key corrections and other little bits to make this image usable. Message me for any questions.

So are you officially verifying that your next release will include Google Play (Android Market)?

I can tell you with 100% certainty that any official X10 OS will not have Google play / market.

What is the difference between the 0331 image and the 0406 image? I thought you had the 0406 installed on your XL and that was the one you helped me get the volume keys working. :)

Can you tell us with some level of certainty whether or not Bluetooth will be incorporated?

I do not think that bluetooth will be incorporated into the OS, but I am not certain about it.

We want it so tell them to do it, aren't you their paying customer for certainly we are yours. Thank you and have a nice day.

That unit was never sold with internal bluetooth support, so your approach is not valid.
-

I've learned from dealing with the factories that any date that they indicate really does not mean anything. I do know that they are working on it, and it will get done. They are promising a new version soon.
-
Thanks - and I agree
-
X10 Repair Depot:
We understand that the unit was marketed and sold as no Bluetooth. What we are asking is that they include USB Bluetooth support so we can use an external Bluetooth adaptor. without kernel support for bluetooth any external bluetooth will not be recognized by the OS.

Do you think they will do that for free?
-
putting in usb bluetooth support is a simple kernel config option before compiling.
H
-
I never asked for internal bluetooth support, that would require recalling every tablet and modifying the whole guts.
The discussion has always been about providing external support which is a simple process.
-
This discussion got off topic. What ever happened to ICS? Any update on an ETA?
-
After about 5 days with 4.03 ICS - it is like day and night with the airpad, and a big part is google play. I know others have said the apps are available if you look hard enough - but the effort needed to find these other apps (which may be outdated) compared to using Google Play - is rediculous.
Net having Google Play as part of the ICS upgrade is like selling a new car with 3 tires. I will probably still move - just not as well.

Last night I upgraded my XL from 2.3.4 to 4.03. I find the browser to be very slow and if I want to open a secondary site, I now I click on post a reply, it came back with , www........not available. This time it worked on second try but normally I just have to give up. Also why does it keeps underlining as I type?
Do you find the same things or did I miss some thing?

First thing you missed was telling us what version/date you installed - LOL. The best working one was from 0331 (03/31/12). 0406 is bloated and 0514 is a X-10 beta that a lot of programs have been crashing on.
-
;)mine is lightning fast and reliable with 0331
-
How do you know what version you have that is how do you know if you have 0331 or 406 or 0514?
-
You will see the date as part of the image file name.
Or you can go into Settings then select "about tablet" and look at the build number.
-
What did you download?
look at the IMG file - that you extracted and flashed into the airpad -
the name should contain the digits that match the version like XXXXXXX0331 or XXXXXXXXX0514 etc....
Or post the name of the img file you used and someone will tell you.
-
I think I have 0331 because under About Tablet it has 0331 as the last 4 digits in the build number.
My browser also is slow and many times will not respond until the entire page is loaded and if I try to get it to scroll it won't respond and I get the message that the browser is not responding so I tap wait even the tablet will be sluggish at times even if the browser is not running many times after it wakes up from being suspend even after it has fully reconnected to my router.
-
Is it just 0331 or have you loaded a bunch of apps? My browser dolphin flies.... some apps will dog down any system.
See how it runs with just ics and go from there. I find ics0331 much faster than 2.3.4 across the board.

X10 DEPOT:
how about an update

I agree haven't heard much since Easter

I would like to see the momo11 star image run on the XL. if anyone gets a copy please let me know.
Thanks,

The last update I see in this thread is June. Has there been any word of an official X10 ICS for the Airpad XL? I have see a lot of posts about beta's and unofficial versions. Have I missed a posting about it? Is it in a different thread?
Or has the factory just given up on the project? B:(

look in the cm9 / cm10 upgrade thread

I was using the latest CM9 MOD and it was a improvement over the earlier version but still has the issue of running the battery down to fast even with Bluetooth turned off in less then 10 minutes it would be down to 94% but with the 0331 version it only went down to 98 percent in 10 minutes. Also it has a very bad bug where it does not shutdown the tablet when it gets below 6 percent of battery charge remaining or even below 2 percent, it just warns you at 15 percent and then 5 but will not auto shutdown and will just cut off so if you have it in sleep mode and forget it will not shutdown and just cut off risking damage to the system files.
I think maybe it is written for a tablet that has a different battery capacity and there for does not properly calculate the discharge rate of the battery.
I went back to 0331 but really miss and the more stable connection to the Bluetooth dongle where unlike the 0331 image it does not disconnect from the Bluetooth Dongle once it goes to sleep requiring a reboot of the tablet to get it working plus with 0331 if you have the dongle plugged in when you turn on the tablet it won't enable Bluetooth I also miss the Bluetooth Audio support of the CM9 Mod.
CM9 has some really cool features like the option to either shutdown or reboot or reboot in recovery mode or switch to silent mode or switch profiles but the battery issue is a problem and needs to be addressed. ;)
CM10 has the same battery issue and is too slow. :-\
-
Has anyone gotten the 0331 image to support Bluetooth Audio. On my AorpadXL it still does not play the audio through my Bluetooth Speaker even though I have Phone Audio and Media Audio Check Marked and it even makes the light on my bluetooth dongle flicker indicating it is connect to the Bluetooth speaker waiting for audio to be played.
It worked in the CM9 MOD but I did not like how CM9 ran the battery down way to fast (even with the Bluetooth turned off) and did not auto shutdown when the battery got below 6 percent charge.
Is there a certain brand and model number of Bluetooth Dongle that works with Bluetooth Audio in 0331?

HELP!!!
Anyone have a problem like this?
Any Browser window that opens is being read by some Limey Dude.
I went into settings..accessibility..Talk Back and it is OFF. Went to apps and disabled it.
Done just about everything I can think of. Even removed Google Talk and Talk-back. And it's still doing it.
How do I turn this off?!!! ??? It just started all by itself.
ICS 4.0.4 Last CM09 Build.
FOUND IT!!! Disable Web Scripts in Settings...accessibility.
