Title: Help to review my X10 project
Post by: foreveryoung on April 11, 2012, 10:18:35 AM
Dear experts,
I create an overview picture of my project at https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1vxHh0KCaM410ErzPQ1ekv1C9lmuv8uSo6VzIdKXeuKw/edit

Please suggest what X10 modules I should buy and where to buy.

The project will be:
1. I dial my cell phone into my PBX box
2. The PBX answers my phone and waiting for my input
3. I input code like 0001 DTMF tones with the number pad on my cell
4. PBX box translates 0001 into X10 command to X10 server connected to PC with RS232
5. X10 server sends X10 command to power cord
6. X10 client receives X10 command and turns off the device and then turns on the device immediately
7. PBX enters waiting mode for my next input
8. I hand out my call

After reading several articles from Google, I only firmly believe that CM11A is the one that I need.  But I have no clues what client modules should I need.  Please suggest what X10 modules I should buy and where to buy.

Thank you
^^

Primary X10 "client modules" (aka ""receivers") are the "Lamp Module" http://www.x10.com/promotions/lm465_cat_hm.html for controlling (only) incandescent lamps, and "Appliance Module" http://www.x10.com/automation/x10_am486.htm for controlling things that do not "dim".

If you are in North America, go to X10.com or smarthome.com to purchase. In fact, you can learn (for yourself) just about everything you need to know about what X10 devices are available, at these two sites.

The two sites will not tell you about some of the weaknesses of X10 powerline control (PLC). But you can get that by going here : http://jvde.us/x10_troubleshooting.htm .

Dear Dave,
Thanks for your reply.
Let me digest a little bit.
I'm sure I still have lots of uncertainties.

Thank you
