Title: Funny motion sensor Macro blooper
Post by: gg4000 on April 18, 2012, 07:03:25 PM
I tried to set up a few macros (Smart?) to have my computer say things on motion.
It was for my son to remind him to do his chores while I'm at work. There's also timers to stop it when I get home.
I tried to set it up with one motion sensor.
Macros were set for day of the week.
If it's Thursday macro 1 triggers voice script to say "Friday is garbage and recycle day. Better get em out today".
If it's Monday Macro 2 should say ""Tuesday is garbage and leaves day. Better get em out today".
Any other day it would say "Did you vacuum today?".
Well today is Wednesday.
My kid did vacuum.
But he also took out the garbage and leaves.  B:(
The garbage won't be picked up until Friday. The leave will stay there until next Tuesday!
HELP! >*<

Batteries are dead in the crystal ball.
Post examples of macros so we can assist you.

it sounds like the issue is that your son did all his chores at once rather than over a few days.

You could try wiring up your gabage bins with a sensor -(see my example in User Designed Macros section on how you can do this).
Then the system will know when the chores are done and not make the announcement if the bins are out.

For the vacuuming - you could set up a button for him to press once he has done it.
or depending on where you keep the vacuum cleaner - put a motion sensor above the vacuum so it is triggered when he goes to get the cleaner out.
Then that could set a flag that you can use in the announcement conditions to determine if the announcement needs to be made.
he wont know how you know but you could even get the sensor to email you when he gets the vacuum out.

The computer did tell him to vacuum and the Tuesday macro (trash and leaves).
I tested it this morning. (Thursday)
I walked by the sensor, and Vacuum macro went on (ok, why not. We have a German Shepherd)
Then the Friday macro (trash and recycle) (Good)
Then Tuesday macro (trash and leaves) Not good....
The logic looks correct in the Tuesday macro. (If the day is not Sunday or Wednesday or Thursday or Friday) But Tuesday was triggered anyway.
Am I missing something?
