Title: Power outage now cameras do not keep IP address
Post by: Thefeds on May 16, 2012, 06:04:31 PM
I have 2 xc36a cameras and till yesterday worked fantastically. Then we had a power outage, now both cameras still work but not at the same time they both now have the same IP address and I have not been able to change. I have pushed the rest button, and it clears the IP’s I set one camera up with the cable again.  it worked great put it back on the stand. Then came back to set the other one ran IP Camera tool again with it connected to the cable, it came up with its own IP address And both cameras working. Now when I removed the cable after setting the camera up it defaulted back to the 1st cameras IP address???? I have gone into my router (Dlink) and made sure both cameras were listed and they were and both different IP addresses???? But the cameras will not separate?? I tried switching cameras only to have the same thing happen. I am lost??? Any Ideas please. B:( B:( B:( B:( B:( B:( B:( ??? ??? ??? B:( B:( B:( B:(

Okay I got them to work again but it took longer than I think I should have. Why the power outage caused everything to get messed up ???

More than likely during setup, you allowed the wireless router to create & assign the IP address for each camera.  That is generally referred to as dynamic IP addressing as they are created as needed.  You need to create static IP addresses when setting up & configuring your cameras.  Otherwise, every time you lose electrical power your wireless router may assign different IP addresses.  Check out your setup guide for creating static IP addresses.  That's my two cents worth of help as I don't have your model to be more specific.  I just happen to stumble across your post while looking for solutions to my own config problems.  Good luck.

Sorry a very much to late to really reply back but .. Sorry..
The Airsight xc36a ip cam was not resetting like it says it will in the manual pressing the button alone was useless. I finally pressed the button and unplugged the power adapter a couple times. I then had to start from the beginning. But finally I was able to edit all the settings again.

I find the camera to be a bit finicky some days they work great then next day they have trouble loading even though nothing has changed. (from different computers (but mine) different locations) They remain secure and on 24/7 and I am the only one with access to them that I know of. LOL But they always work sooner or later just can take a bit of expressive language......LOL

Also They were instrumental in catching the persons that were removing my property without my permission so the little time and effort was well worth it.

try to set a static IP address under: Network-Basic Network Settings(in camera interface software). As camera default setting is getting IP via DHCP!
