Title: Where is the "change password" option
Post by: donjuane on July 16, 2012, 07:09:16 PM
My password has been compromised.   How do I change it?   This site, unlike all others I subscribe to, doesn't seem to have a change password option which seems a little out of touch these days .....

Change password option isn't available to newbies infact your whole profile can't be changed until your a full member.
This was implemented to reduce spam attacks.

YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING.  So not only does X10 send the user ID and password in the clear in an email, thus compromising both, but then you don't allow me to change the compromised password because I'm a newbie!  No wonder you are getting spammed. :-[  How do I become a full member so I can change my password?

Actually not allowing newbie to change there settings has resulted in less spam as a real email address must be used.
In order to be able top change your settings you must become a Jr member.
This is done by posting to the forum following the guide lines posted in General Forum Etiquette  (http://forums.x10.com/index.php?topic=12842.0)
Once your post count reaches the number entitled to be a Jr. member you you'll see your status change under your name.

Remember 99% of email addresses getting compromised are from Trojans and keyloggers.
Following good house keeping and doing regular virus scans with a program that is updated  regularly (daily is best) will help prevent a users email from getting compromised.

you won't be able to change your password or share a picture until you have been a member a little longer, and have posted more.
