Title: Repair of appliance module
Post by: rjniles on September 16, 2012, 01:03:28 PM
I have a 3 pin appliance that stopped working. When I send an on command, it will flash but will not hold on. I tested with a lamp plugged it: the lamp flashes every time I send the on command but will not stau on. Any fix for this?

It sounds like the relay position feedback circuit has failed.

Yes Pulses a few times is the On Off status circuit.
How old is it. The real new CFL friendly ones use a different circuit from the older ones.

I opened the case and found a large black burn mark on the circuit board (the magic smoke was gone). I tossed it.

If you where adventurous. There are some schematics of the older model hardware devices floating around.
Though if the magic smoke is gone. Hard to say if resuscitation would be possible.
