Title: Remotely close 2 contacts on Niko Dimmer module
Post by: jensvanhoof on March 10, 2013, 09:55:35 AM
Hi,

This is probably an easy question for the X10 community, but since I've just recently heard of X10 I can't really find what I'm looking for.
I recently bought a Niko build-in dimmer module to dim a few elektricity sockets in my place. This is the kind that comes in a package with the dimmer attached to the actual switch, so my 'regular' switch just got replaced by this one.

This works great, but now I'd like to control that dimmer by using a relay which is placed in the fuse cabinet. On the module there is a contact that will simulate a 'push' on the button when shorted with the un-dimmed power supply (L). It would thus be easily achieved by pulling an extra wire to the fuse in the box and shorting the contacts there. However, I don't have the space to pull in a new cable so I'm stuck.

I was wondering if it would be possible to put an X10 module behind the switch that will close the 2 contacts when instructed to do so. I'm not looking for a truly 'wireless' system, as the idea is to trigger the relay with a microcontroller in a fixed configuration, so I'd like not to depend on batteries and so on.

Any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot!
Jens

We talking US and Canada or another area of the world?
There are some nice 240 volt modules available in the overseas market we don't have.

Sorry, should have managed that we're talking Europe indeed (230V AC.)

You may want to look at the the Micro and DIN rail modules here.
Not too sure if any would do what you want.

Smarthome has also recently added micro modules to their line and have models for different parts of the world.
