Post by: babybearjs on April 05, 2013, 01:58:01 AM
when is X10 going to make a REAL thermostat that works with the X10 system? not just a "heater"  the unit they have had out for years is just a peice of junk because it doesnt do anything but make heat to "Fool" the existing thermostat....

I don't think we are going to see any *new* X10 products, considering the difficulties X10 is having.

You can try RCS to see if they have any of their X10 protocol units left.

Maybe this thread will shed some light on X10's present situation.

OK then, they are having more difficulties. Besides the factory problems, X10 protocol is long on tooth and signal reliability is seriously affected by electrical noise on the homes lines. Switching power supplies are noise makers and are now everywhere as they are cheaper, lighter, and smaller than transformer supplies. Smarthome, ACT, and PCS have quit or are quitting making X10 protocol products. Newer and more reliable protocols like Z-Wave, UPB, and Insteon, although more expensive, are replacing X10 as home automation products of choice. Although in it's infancy, I suspect WiFi based automation will be the final coffin nail for X10 protocol. So is an up hill battle for X10 automation products.

Anywho, I don't think the X10 Wish List is getting a lot of attention or planning from X10, but I may be wrong.
