Title: Not talking to everyone
Post by: liderbug on July 28, 2014, 01:33:32 PM
So I've got an older single board ARM running Heyu with a CM11.  I've got a RasPi running Uechi's Simplemon.pl.  I've got a EagleEye at the front door that talks to a x10 transceiver.  Too much distance/wood/brick between front door and CM19 to work.  If I take the eagleye to the CM19 - "Yes sir, no sir, 3 bags full sir.".  Problem:  My older ARM runs busybox, no php, scripting is.... light, I don't feel like cross compiling...  my CM11 is RS232, my Pi doesn't have serial.  I know the answer but I'm going to ask again - is there anyway to get PL sigs into my RasPi?  A CM15A???  Thanks

How about a RS232 to USB converter for about $5 on eBay?  I tested a CM11A and XTB-232 with one of those and it worked fine.

Do  a web search on raspi rs232. There are some voltage mismatch issues to consider as the RasPi is 3V3. And there may be driver issues with USB/RS232 adapters.
Also, this may solve your CM19A range issues.

Thanks - I'll look in to it - next few day there are some other fish in the pan.  (nuder story)
