I saw a thread on the Candlepower Forums. About the bulbs you linked to.

They don't seem very impressed with it.

I wonder whether the Candlepower Forums discussed earlier implementations of technology regarding lighting efficiency.

For those of us that have already converted to LED bulbs I'm sure there will be an even better bulb by the time a replacement is needed.
If it weren't for the fire hazards I'd most likely still have CFLs in use as it is I have a box full of CFLs for backup use only.

About 25-30 years ago when I lived in the Chicago area, Commonwealth Edison offered CFLs (new at the time) ing a big discount. I bought one which lasted about 6 weeks before it failed. Consequently, I never fell for the hype when the bulb manufacturers decided selling $35 CFLs made more sense than $0.35 incandescents and, joined with treehuggers, lobbied legislatures worldwide to outlaw incandescents. I do have some LEDs with which I'm happy as well as a a lifetime supply of 130V incandescents but agree that there will likely be even better bulbs when my inventory is depleted.
