Title: RPi3 based thin client
Post by: dhouston on July 07, 2016, 08:20:24 AM
It would have much wider appeal if it ran Windows 10 but, even running another of the 57,000 Linux variants, it's likely to find a market.

So what exactly did ViewSonic do then?  The RPi3 is fully capable out of the box.  They do not include any enclosure, so the one in the picture is a really well done box to put it in.  I presume they provide software, but being that it's Linux, the source has to be made available.  Seems like they are selling a $35 RPi3 in a nice box and claiming it's worth $120.  Even if they include their OS derivative, it's no better/worse than one of the many that can be found on the RPi homepage.  So, if there were only a way to source a nice aluminum enclosure for a RPi for less than $85...
