Title: Automation Before X10
Post by: JeffVolp on November 22, 2021, 03:48:22 PM
With some spare time I've been going through boxes never opened since we moved here almost two decades ago.  I ran across the 24 hour timer I used back before X10, and thought some of you might get a kick out of seeing it.  It has 8 poles that can be programmed for any duration over the 24-hour cycle.

Did Alan Turing leave that behind by any chance. An ideal piece for the tech museum. It’s an amazing peace of engineering.

I would be happy to ship it to any museum that would want it.  If not, maybe it would find a collector on eBay.

The mere fact that we still use X10 makes all our homes museums!

I have a clapper (just for fun) in my mancave. The grandkids who are a accustomed to talking to Alexa.... are amazed by "clap control".

This is a great example of how far "verbal control" has come!  ;D

Twice now... while self-checking out at Home Depot.... the machine/register says "would you like a printed receipt?" But it doesn't accept a voice response.... I know because I naturally voice-reply.
