Title: Doubts about my M14A controller
Post by: nabril15 on June 05, 2022, 08:28:46 PM
Hello experts

My m14 controller has been working strangely lately, as I see that some devices don't get turned on at their programmed time. I realize rhat the issue could be something else, so I don't truly know.
The slider button on the controller for selecting 1-4 vs 5-8 is extremely flimsy and loose, so I ask if that has anything to do with the sending of signals?
I assume not, but I don't know.

Thank you

I'm not an expert but some actual experts have pointed out that some devices with spinning wheels can eventually loose connectivity over time.  In those cases simply spinning the wheel a few times corrects the issue.  I doubt that's the issue you have.  I had a mini-controller that failed.  I believe it was bad capacitors but after playing with it for a while, I simply decided to replace it since I was able to locate a replacement for really cheap.  Economics have changed so it may now be worth repairing some devices.

M14A is not an X10 part number. Is it a MT14A Mini Timer? With the clock display.
It could be a power line signal issue or the electronics maybe going south.
You may want to try a module with issues. In an outlet on the same circuit as the MT14A and see if things are different.
The MT14A is kind of special. The power supply wall wart is has the power supply, zero crossing detector and the power line transmitter in it. So a a standard wall wart can not be substituted.
