Title: tstat set back
Post by: brett on August 16, 2005, 09:14:08 PM
Hi.  Does anyone know about an actual
thermostat in place of using a set back with
all the rediculous wires hand out.  I know
someone that has wire mold all over his walls
and looks horrible.  any suggestions? be nice

Brett,
Not sure what you are really after but I have
a programmable set back thermostat (one small
nice unit) mounted on the wall with the small
5 wire cable going through the wall.  No
wires seen.  The unit allows set back at any
time on any day with each day programmable
separate from the other.  The unit is a
"water furnace" brand and will control HVAC
and heat pumps.  I installed the unit myself.
Piece of cake...
Regards,

Brett:  I totally agree with you about the
set back thermostat.  The only other X10
thermostat that I know of is the TXB16 by
Residential Control Systems (RCS).
Automated Outlet (www.automatedoutlet.com)
sells it for $193.99.

The TXB16 is a fully functional thermostat
and uses X10 commands to change the set
point temperature and mode of the
Thermostat.  It seems really quite
sophisticated (it can take an average of
multiple temperature sensors for example)
but I have never used it though.

I hope this helps.
