Title: Transceiver Module (TM751) -- Two Questions

I purchased the TM751 to extend the RF range
of my CM15A.  The unit seems to be working
OK but I have two questions...

1.  Is the thing supposed to click so loud
when I turn on and off Unit Code #1?  When I
turn on and off other unit codes (#2, #3) it
is silent.

2.  I suspect the clicking noise is because
this is an appliance module.  Since I only
purchased this only to extend the RF range,
is there a way to disable the outlet on it
(and clicking) and force it to just pass
codes?

Steven,

I have several of these and, yes they all
have that loud click. You are correct the
noise is from the internal relay turning on
and off the outlet.  The only two ways to
silence the relay that I can think of is 1)
do not use that house code or 2) cut the
wire to the relay. For safety reasons I
would not recommend the second choice
unless you know what you are doing.

Yup is an appliance module relay in it and
yes it does clunk.
Like Jim said avoid unit 1 or disable the
relays coil from activating the ratchet
relay.

Hi all,
Just to clarify, the TM751 is a multi
function device. It will tranceive and also
activate the switched outlet on a 'Device
#1' RF command. It is like an appliance
module that only responds to RF.
Also, just FYI, if the CM15A and the TM751
both receive and trancieve the same RF
command there is a possibility for
interference (signal collisions).
I found that the TM751 to be a better
receiver that the CM15A, so I just place one
nearest to the expected RF source and
disabled the CM15A from recieving on that
housecode.

Thanks for the replies.  All of my stuff is
on House Code "M" and that is the same code
I set the TM751 to.  Are you saying that I
can set the TM751 to a different house code
(say "T") and still receive signals from
remotes set to the "M" house code?

Steven,

No, you have to have it on the  same house
code as all of your devices but if you
avoid unit code 1 you will not activate the
internal  relay and therefore not hear the
click.

The TM751A will only trancieve ONE 'house
code'. If you set it on 'A', only 'A' will
be tranceived.

Yeah, I guess I recall reading that now
about needing a TM751 for each house code.

Would it be possible to just get another
CM15A, download no timers or macros, and set
it to listen on all house codes?

You can do that but it will probably not
have the range that the TM751 has.

Sorry,

I am not an expert in this. There are X10
repeater type devices that work well with
all 'housecodes'.

Any tranciever will listen for X10 RF
commands on it's housecode. Buying another
CM15A will not usually improve a system with
a CM15A in it. Maybe on another phase?

I only use one house code.  Rather than
using a repeater, can multiple TM751 units
on the same house code be used without any
ill effects?
