Has anyone ever tried to extend the USB cable
to the CM15A? I have it hooked up to a new PC
and the RFI from the PC is killing the range.
How long can the cable get before the USB
gets flakey? I know that some stuff is quite
long, for example, the media center remote
control I have is on a 25 foot cable and
seems to be OK. I would like to extend the
CM15A USB cable about 10 feet.
Thanks in advance,
Joe

Is it RF range or powerline range? My UPS on
the computer absorbed about 50% of my signal
untill I added an X10 type filter to the
powerline input of the UPS. The cm15a is not
known for great RF receiving range anyway.
I believe the official USB Spec. Is slightly
longer then 10' and I have see quality USB
Cables sold at 10' and some extensions [I
would use a whole cable not an extension
type] even longer.

Joe: We've used the CM15A here with a 25-foot
USB extender cable and it worked fine.

Brian,
No, I got a home theater PC and it is sitting
right next to a big plasma TV. I figured it
would be nice to have AHP on that PC because
it is on 24-7 I actually think the plasma is
radiating RFI. It is plugged directly into an
outlet and the Plasma/PC is plugged into a
UPS. When I turn off the plasma, my RF range
comes right back up. When the plasma is on,
it is about 10 feet. So I figured that if I
moved the CM15A to an outlet about 10 feet
away, then it wouldnt clobber the receiver. I
was just concerend that if the USB cable got
too long, it would fail to communicate. 25
feet is plenty. Also thanks to X10 pro for
the reply.
