Title: Changes to where video, stills are saved not working
Post by: SteffenH on April 04, 2005, 09:41:44 AM
I was trying to change the location of
where iWitness saves the vidios and images
in the preferences.   After I change the
location and restarted AHP these changes
are lost and it defaults back to the
previous location. videos are still being
saved but they cannot be viewed when
clicking on video. It seems that the
location information is now confused.  I
can find the videos using explorer.

Same thing here.  I've found the
video/snap/scan saving functions flakey in
3.183 & 3.185.  If I change the location for
file saves, it still creates the default
directories.  It 'tries' to save to the non-
default directories, but video and scan
saves are incomplete or corrupt.  Snaps do
seem to save OK.  I attempted to report this
during the beta and since relase of v3,185,
but no response to e-mails.  I don't think
the capture functions are ready for prime
time.

Also, the new Media window in 3.185 doesn't
offer a way to delete files (that I can
find).  I'm afraid manually deleting them
will cause problems with the xindex.dat file.

X10 Pro or anyone with knowledge of these
features please advise if we are whipping a
dead horse and should just wait for a
debugged release.

I've added the problems changing the image
directories to our list of work. It should be
too much work for us to get this stuff stable.

Kent Cook: I'll see if you can delete files
without messing up the indices. We may need
to make a more comprehensive file management
tool (delete images older than X, delete a
range, etc.).

X10 Pro

Thanks for the quick response.  It's good to
know there is someone listning!

I hope you meant to say "It should" NOT "be
too much work for us to get this stuff
stable"

I found all preferences reverted back to the
defaults except for thouse which aplied only
to AHP. I reported this in the beta testing
this seems to only be a bug with 98 & ME
editions. My XP machine keeps the settings.

tuicemen,
I (and others)reported this some time ago
during the beta-phase already -
savingfunction is not working under ME.
This function works under XPprof SP2.
I reported in addition to Michael(AHP-Team):
some Textphrases in 'information-windows' in
some Preferece Tabs are not readable, text
is truncated - at least in my 1024x768
setup ,going higer in resolution doesn't
inprove anything.

I have XP Pro SP2, settings do not save
Are these parameters saved in the registry?
When I did a search in regedit all I found
was an entry for stills. No entries for
video or snapshot.

I think we've figured this out, and it should
be fixed in the next update.

Win 98 SE :I have been calling to get help
in saving to D: Drive since Oct, 2005.  No
results! The new Up Grade does not allow
changing locations either!  Is there a save
button needed on Preferences screne?

Sounds similar to problems that I continue to
experience with FTP preferences. No matter
how I set FTP preferences, my uploaded
filenames include date and time info. This
continues to prevent me from using my system
(AHP/iWitness/MyHouse) as a webcam since my
web files are not overwritten. I have cleared
and reloaded interface memory, renamed my AHP
system file, deleted my 'x10 settings'-
nothing seems to change this preference! My
host computer is on Windows2000. I have been
trying to get some working explanation or
solution from support for over a month
without success. Does anyone know whether
this is a known expected issue and if a
workaround or fix exists?

the camera date time stamp remains as an
blank thumbnail.
