Title: CM15A to AHP Communication Breakdown
Post by: bob linca on March 12, 2005, 01:03:01 AM
After about 24 hours, communication between
the CM15A and AHP starts to deteriorate. The
effects that I have noticed include:
- Macros triggered in the CM15A are not
triggered in AHP (i.e. the macro button
does not flash blue).
- The AHP activity monitor only shows
'Receive' type activity.
- The modules in AHP show the wrong
state, such as, lights being on, when
they are off.
- Macros do not always run correctly. E.g.
Lights controlled by a fairly simple
macro turn on for around five seconds,
instead of for five minutes.

Running 'Download Timers and Macros' makes
the problem go away for a while.

Configuration:
Windows 2000
Diagnostic CM15A
AHP 3.180
PC always on with AHP running
USB cable always plugged in

I have a simular problem but only if I leave
AHP running 24/7 and don't flush the
Activity Monitor everything goes screwy
after 1300 entries.

My original CM15a was loaded with ahp 3.173
in January it has never been reloaded.  It
worked reliably for 2 months.  I
then "upgraded" to 3.180 so I could load my
deagnostic CM15a. That experiement failed so
I "restored" my computer to 3.173.

I had the original CM15a in control and the
diag CM15a also plugged in but with a null
load to act as a monitor. The diag CM15a was
connect to my dsktop computer but the
computer was turned off.

This morning my sunrise macro failed after
the first step.  I removed the diag CM15a
then fired up the 3.173 laptop to check the
other CM15a.  I tried turning off the
sunrise lamp. Selecting the module switch to
OFF didn't turn the lamp off.  Selecting the
switch to on made the dim slider go full
bright but then it returned to full dim.
The map was still not being controlled.  I
eventually got control of the lamp by
cycling the slider between full dim and full
bright.  Although the sunrise lamp failed my
porch light timer macro still worked.

Can't explain any of this but I certainly
regret putting 3.180 on my laptop.  I had
wanted to leave that working system
completely unchanged and to do the
experimenting with the diag CM15a and 3.180
on the other computer.

CM15A worked great first few weeks then
worked intermittently.  I have tried
unsuccessfully to download and upgrade AHP
resulting in error message stating software
has generated errors and will close.  AHP
will never load again until I reinstall the
original software version ??  Funny, I can
plug in my old serial interface into the AC
and all my old timers and macros work just
fine.  Is X10 going to fix the CM15A and the
great new AHP?
