Title: CM15A upgrade tips
Post by: Tigger on May 09, 2005, 02:36:30 PM
Here are some upgrade tips, which may help
with some of the problems I've seen posted
in the forum.

Obviously, these may not work for everyone.

Some of these steps MAY seem to be basic,
no-brainer kind of things.  Others may seem
completely unnecessary.  My philosphy is,
"It can't hurt".  This procedure, performed
in the order outlined, seems to work for me.

1.)  Check your batteries for proper
installation.  Use FRESH Alkalines.
If you must use rechargeables, then
use Ni-Mh, and NOT Ni-Cd.
This may be the cause of many of the
problems people experience when moving
the CM15 to a different outlet.

2.)  Download the current software.
3.186 works for basic configurations.

3.)  Clear the interface memory.

4.)  Verify/update the hardware configuration
in AHP.  Make sure the time/date is
accurate.  Send it to the interface,
even if you haven't made changes.

5.)  Download your timers/macros into the
interface.

6.)  Test your macros using RF remotes.
Verify operation of timers/delays.

7.)  If some macros stop working, or have
become erratic, DELETE the macro,
and re-enter it.  If this doesn't
resolve the problem, DELETE and
re-enter the MODULES associated
with the macro, and THEN DELETE
and re-enter the MACRO.

8.)  If you need to relocate the CM15A,
unplug the USB cable WITHOUT doing
anything in Windows.  Then unplug the
CM15A from the wall.  Re-check for
proper operation of timers/delays,
once the CM15A has been relocated.

I would suggest that if windows wants you
to "Stop" the CM15a before disconnecting it
that you do so (re #8 suggestion below).
This no longer seems to be required since
the new driver, but check the "Unplug or
Disconnect Hardware" icon in the
notification tray.
