Title: AHP is loosing modules
Post by: Dan Lawrence on November 26, 2005, 04:17:35 PM
AHP has sudenly stoped recognizing 3 modules.
It will not address A3, B6 or B8. Desktop
controllers will address the modules, so it's
not a signal problem. The software suddenly
(2 days ago) stopped accessing those 3 modules.

Anybody know what's wrong?

Very strange.

At 7:30 this morning, AHP was addressing
every module in the system, including full
control of addresses A3, B6 and B8.

Even a full un-install, edit of the Windows
Registry to remove all traces of AHP and a
full install and setup, AHP still didn't see
those 3 addresses - until this morning.

Postscript: It turned out the problem was
interference from my wife's laptop's power
unit, which was sending noise. The 3 modules
are all on the same breaker with the outlet
where the laptop is near. Laptop plugged in,
modules don't work. No laptop, no problems.

The solution was a XPPF plug-in noise filter
from my local X-10 dealer.

Dan; My APC BK1000 absorbed so much of my
X10 Line Signals I had to use an X10 filter
on it's AC input. I used a Smarthome 10 amp
one; since the 5 amps of most was close to
the UPSs rated input current.
