Title: Peeping Tom is smart

First off I had my x10 cam stolen (new in
box/garage).  A couple of weeks later I
came home and it looked as if my TV and
Computer had been slightly moved. Then
later I over heard a neighbor telling
another man about something that happened
inside my home. How does he know that
info?  Curtains were closed.  I moved!!
I,m  approx 1/2 mile away now; but when I
turn  on my TV or work on my computer I
hear very  low background voices.  I cant
catch the  whole conversation but pieces of
it.  Somebody is seeing what Im doing in my
new  house.  How is this posible?  No Im
not on  drugs or crazy.  This is serious,
Im a  single woman and this is real.  How
can I  detect and catch these peeping toms?
Is it  posible he put a camera in my TV,
cable  cord or etc.

It is remotely possible that your tv and
computer speakers are picking up a nearby
cell fone or cordless fone or even a two
way radio conversation.  My neighbor had a
two way radio that routinely crosses its
way onto my tv if he stands at the corner
of his house talking.  The only way to tell
for sure is to unplug your computer
speakers and open the computer case and
unplug the internal speaker from the modem
or motherboard, and while inside you can
look around and see if there is a camera or
something that shouldn't be there.  I moved
too after somebody taped me in my second
floor apartment bathroom and had the nerve
to leave a copy at my front door.  I had
told friends I heard thumps and noises
outside my window and they thought I was
nuts since the only thing outside my window
was an open field and big oak 50 feet away,
and the window was small and at eye level.
They thought I was nuts until I had was
delivered the tape. I think the freak was
using a video camera on a pole to look in
on me.  There's no telling what is out
there floating around with 'all of me' on
it, and for me, I have a new house with
blinds and curtains - and two bathrooms
with no windows. And, when I get older I
will have a tape of what I looked like in
my younger days - it's the only way I can
look at this whole mess without crying all
the time.  Of course you could just sell
your computer and tv to a Male nudist -
that would give the peeper something to
wonder about.

Just another thought: if you think they are
using your stolen x10 camera you could get
an x10 transceiver, video receiver, with a
remote control hook it up to a tv and scan
through all the possible combinations of
house and unit codes to see if something is
broadcasting close to your house - it would
be time consuming and probably get real
tedious looking at nothing, but, if you get
to see yourself on your tv, you will know
someone is watching you and you can deal
with it accordingly - as an added plus, you
will have gotten your camera back!  If this
is happening to you, another thing to
consider is, whoever may be watching would
have to have a receiver within about 100
feet of you to see the video feed.

An easy way too find out if there's any
device in your home is to get an RF
detector, & do a sweep.

As long as you're feeling even slightly
paranoid... there are two ways a
commmitted "Peeping Tom" could do this.
First, he could set up a receiver, VCR, and
motion sensor inside your house/attic and
have it tape every time you are in the
house.  Second, remember that the X10
cameras can be set up to transmit imagaes
over the Internet.  The peeper could have
loaded X10's USB-camera interface and
software on your PC.  Before you go nuts,
it's easy to check.  Look at the USB ports
on your computer, and if one connection
goes to a fairly thick black cable with an
RCA plug on the other end, then your
computer has an X10 camera connected to it
that can then be watched over the
Internet.  Unplug the USB cable and your
problem is solved.
Both ways assume this guy had or has access
to your house.  The bigger issue is how
this guy got into your new house... please
say he isn't an old boyfriend or ex-husband
that you gave a key to...  I have a feeling
this will come to nothing.  Good luck!

For some tme now I would here what sounded
like my neighbor easing droping and relaying
what she heard to another neighbor via
walkie talkie or perhaps they may have
placed one somewhere in my yard, however
they would talk away to each other and many
times they would pretend to have
conversations with my husband which was not
at all possible.  They are young in their
20's and out for revenge.  anyways afer
calling the police several times after
catching them I started to hear them talk
about where I was at in the room what I was
doing. Major xxxx stuff however I can never
see where its coming from only there voices
from my back yard which is small apt. size.
the final time I called pd I had an
outstanding warrent for a failure to appear
anyway I spent a week in jail and since Ive
been back I have hot heard them nor have
seen them.  What do you think.

i think smarthome.com has an rf bug detector
you could get to check for bugs....  you
COULD pick up a linear amp from radio shack
and get a  CB to crunch their signals if they
are using walkie talkies...

I have seen cameras "spy cams" that are
hidden in clocks, cd players, teddy bears
etc. Anyone give you a present like
that...that you yourself could have moved
into new location unaware.

Keith

I would suggest the floodlight with cam
and VCR Commander. I use it and it works
great. You can also activate the
floodlights using Eagle Eye Sensor. Put
sensor in woods and have floods facing woods
( most likely they are coming from there)
and when tripped the whole area will light
up.
