Title: What's with customer service at X10?
Post by: robert bradley on December 24, 2004, 06:01:24 PM
Is it me, or has X10 stopped answering
emailed questions?? I have sent in six
different emails in the past two months
asking questions about products and
problems I have had and gotten no replys. I
used to get a reply in two days. AND,
lately when I call I sit for about 3-4
minutes then get an operator who routes me
to another number, where I sit for 10-15
minutes and end up with a recording and end
up leaving a message, and nobody ever calls
back. Is this happening to anyone else??
Last year everything was taken care of
almost instantly.

No kidding! I have the exact same issue.
I had problems trying to download the
software and I get very little help even
though I have the warranty plus plan. I
had to talk with supervisors and now they
won't even email me back at all!!! no one
has responded? I can't believe they think
they can run a company this way. Well it
will come right back to bite them because
the internet is a powerful tool for
consumers to speak ther mind. Just visit e-
pinions.com You'll find out the truth
about many companies and if there products
and customer service is good or like X-10.
I don't know what to do but if they don't
change there act I'm never going to buy
from them again and I'll spread the word
like wild fire. Hear that X-10?

I also had some trouble with X10 for the
past holiday year end. The tech support
was back on its feet starting yesterday.
Last week it seems that X10 had experienced
there own technical problem with they
computer system. Called them few times and
they computer system is down. They could
probably be short staffed due to holiday
season and same thing as every offices.
They won't repond to your email because...
yes, your right.. their computer system had
problems at that time.
This is only my opinion.

Well, I think a two month long computer
problem is not something a company that
sells computer software should be admitting
to...sooner or later somebody is going to
realize that the "computer is down" is
their own inside joke on the rest of us
telling us they just don't care, or
possibly are unable, to answer our
questions concerning their products.
Ignoring emails, continually forwarding
telephone calls to unanswered extensions,
not returning calls when there happens to
be an answering machine are all things that
will eventually come back to haunt them.
They seem unable, or unwilling, to answer
the simplest of questions about their
equipment. After about two months, it
becomes a real tedious event to deal with
them...of course if they stall long enough
the warranty will expire and then who cares?

I have been suffering the same thing. I am
on the phone now waiting to get an RMA for
returning their equipment. If you can,
return it and save yourself the head ache

After 22 minutes on hold, I got through to
get my RMA. Now I have to wait for the email
with the RMA in it. Let's see if I ever get
it!

This guys sucks, I tried to get an RMA the
whole day but I can do it, they can suck
your money so easy with a product that
sucks.

If it was me I would contact my credit card
company and request a chargeback. Product
not as advertised.

Let X-10 contact you if they want the
product back after you get your credit. I'm
just glad I checked this forum because I was
getting ready to order the 3 cam deal for
189.00

I came in here looking for any coupons

Thanks for the info on this forum, I sure
won't be buying the warranty. I have an
older version and just bought a new one and
hope it helps me fix some problems.

Buyer Beware!!!! Can you say Baaaaaaaad? Pan
& tilt,Multiview and Xray vision are full of
bugs. It takes 20 min. to get to customer
service and when you do they use the ploy of
having you check a few items on your
computer and try to get rid of you by
telling you to give it a try and call back
if it does not work instead of helping you
step by step. I figure the reason is it can
not be fixed. Don't waste your money on the
software!!!!

I think the big question here is, does
support still exist? I'm tying to find out
if, when a ninja is powered up, can the
homing be cancled ? X10 does not answer.
Not saying anything only makes people more
angry! What's happing X10?

It's not amazing to me that all these
complaints keep coming. This company is
sooo lame they are not even motioring these
posts on their own site. I canceled my
$496.00 order with the credit card company
and sent them all these posts along with my
horror story experince with this rip-off
company.

I think it says a whole lot about a company
when on their own forum the one forum item
that has the most replys over all the other
questions is the one complaining about
their customer support. I bought the three
flood cam "deal" with the extended $19
warranty and have had two of them crap out
on me and have yet to receive any help on
returning the things...customer support? ha
ha ha, it is a joke and an insult to the
customers, I can only hope that more people
read these comments and the company just
goes away.

The ninja base that pans and tilt works fine
of mine, cough, cough, I have make a few
adjustments, first, it supports any camera,
the base is independent of whatever camera
you use, hardwired camera's give you better
picture, I put small peace of plywood on top
of ninja base, have 2 camers's mounted on
it, one Day/Night camera, which picture at
night is not as clear as it should be, so I
got another camera, a
http://www.eyespyvideo.com/infrared/ir-
2had.htm black & white Infrared camera for
night time viewing, use Day/night camera
during day for color and other for night, I
use a RCA Y splitter going to distrubtion
amplifier to choose which camera picture I
see, turn one off, the other on, support,
what support, yes I have the Pan & tilt Pro,
which picture from cam Sxxxx, hehe, net
meeting, what a crock, I just use it to
control ninja base, does not need batters,
so far it works, their support needs support

Sorry to hear so many of you are having
such trouble. At this time all is going
well for me. I am happy with what I bought
and had no trouble getting a return number
for package I bought and then changed my
mind about. Had to work a few bugs out but
have four cams up and running. For the
price it is ok, I did not want to spend
hundreds of dollars that we could not
afford. I went to a few other sites like
the one (Courtney A. Smith) showed and the
amount of money needed was way over our
budget.
Time well tell how all it works in few
weeks but at this time were happy.
It’s the net and you can’t have it the same
as going to the store.
I have seen some small set ups at Sam’s
club and K-Mart for around $100.00 with two
cams and a TV but not color and they don’t
pan and some can’t be used outside. It
comes down to choice, spend big bucks and
feel like your at the movies or be happy to
see if someone is on you lot about to do a
no- no to your car or house and record it.
I wish all of you the best and hope you
find what your looking for.

work out some way of buying your stuff off
anyone who wants to get rid it. Yes it well
be pennies on the dollar but better then O
on the dollar.

THANK YOU - ONE AND ALL... I had ordered
some remote controls for my business and
saw all these great camera deals and have
been checking this site out. Being a novice
at this game, I guess X10 isn't the company
I should be dealing with until I know what
I am doing - THANKS AGAIN>>>

X10 had an exodus of talent some months ago
and also let go of some of the top
performers in the tech service division go
in bogus layoffs. It appears that they have
been unable to revover and are using plastic
wrap to cover a sucking chest wound. If the
X10 service technology is failing ' Our
computers are down" how can you expect
anything from the product they produce. I
would imagine that X10 support is the
standard call center churn and burn, no
loyalty from the staff and no caring from
the management as long as you the consumer
keep buying crap made in China by X10 sold
to X10 and not supported by X10.

I am in the same boat...I just call tech-support and after 15 minute waiting. I have to explain my situation all over again, She have no clue how to fix it. and just to get rid of me she will refere me to the level 2, witch Iam pretty sure..there is no level 2 there..more like moron level-1..
anyway I left my phone number and my e-mail address. let see who from level two will dare to call me..I'm so maaaaad. :-\
