I need some information on parts for
Vanguard Camera XC21A/B. I dropped camera
and broke too small gears. where can I get
replacements? Thanks for any help.
-
Yeah same hereMy gears just gave out. craked
in half where can they be purchased for
replacement this is where a company steps up
and takes care of consumer
-
one of the gears in one of my vanguard
cameras broke also. These seem to be quite
fragile. After numerous emails to X10
looking to obtain a replacement gear they
decided to replace my camera since it was
only a few days past the warranty when the
gear failed. I never got any response
about possible repair parts.

It seems like when it comes to customer
service this company really lacks effort. I
think I will just go away from X10 and find
something different I'll post what I find

I also have gear problems with my vanguard,
no pan, and tilt is on its way out it seems,
I opened it up and found small pan gear
broken. Costumer Support was no help.
Paid $500 for this and lots more of their x-
10 cameras. They should at least let you
know where you can possibly get replacement
parts, since they will not repair or
replace, unless its under warranty.

besides the falty gears does the vangaurd
cam work well the zoom and ect..?
-
Yes it works very well. It has a very
clear picture and has amazing zoom.
-
Geez...I thought I was the only one with
gear problems with the Vanguard. I opened
it up to find cheap plastic gears
broken... :(
I ordered a new Vanguard but now I also
ordered it with the 5-year Super Warranty
Plan. If anything breaks now, I will be
fully covered. X10...you should of told us
about these failing gears BEFORE buying it
the first time!
-
I used a RC car 32 pitch pinion gear to
replace my broken gear.Just buy one with
the same # of teeth and file the center
hole untill it slips on the driveshaft in
the Vanguard. It's worked great for a few
years now.
-
Well my replacement Vanguard failed also.
this time it is the tilt gear that broke.
It looks like the pan gear is cracked
also. There is definatly a design problem
with these plastic gears. Seems they are
to tight on the shaft and very little
material so they crack real easy. Tese
need to be replaced with a metal gear or
this failure will be quite common.
